Rockcastle County has 3 senior starters returning in Hayes, Bullock and Mason. They have 2 seniors who started a couple of games when people were injured in Kirby and Mize. Mchone hasn't been to weightlifting a single time all winter and has indicated he probably won't play. Tanner Perkins will go major college in baseball and I wouldn't blame him not to risk his knee. The Rockets also return 3 juniors who started a lot in Thacker, Bishop and Abney. Anyone who played for Rock knows when you lose 7 starters like we did you lost 2/3 of team because unlike other teams most of our boys play both ways. The big difference this year is we don't have those 7-8 JV boys to step in and help like we usually do. Southwestern was the only school in this area that we were competitive with in JV. The majority of our JV games were over with by halftime. If Rock is as good as last year I will be pleasantly suprised. It's just the truth!!

I know Rockcastle has always played alot both ways, so I figured with the loss of the 5 seniors and Perkins early in the season then Rockcastle should still have plenty of experiance back somewhere. I know all 5 seniors played def and 4 on offense. This still leaves 6 starters back on def and 7 on off. Maybe I am wrong in thinking we are going to be good this year. But I still think these kids will win at least 8 games

Do you know for sure Perkins won't be playing this next season? That will hurt but I'm sure that someone will step up. I hope they do as good as last season at least if not better. I sure hate to see the Rock program go backwards.

Why now does everyone seem to think this year wont be a success. We only lost 5 seniors adn Perkins probably wont play, Mchone will though. There is a load of experiance coming back. Rockcastle may not win the state but we should play every team to the wire. How many kids does Rockcaslte have out right now?

Perkins only played in the first two games. If he comes back that will be a plus, but the other 10 games were played without him. The last 3 games were played without McHone. He should be OK and return. Lost were 4 starters on offense and 5 on defense w/o those two.

Didn't an earlier poster say that he hadn't been to any of the conditioning practices and had indicated that he probably wouldn't play?

Yes it did but you can not believe everything you hear. We will have to sit back and wait and see what happens and see how the kids follow and respond to their new coach. It was a big change to them as it was to the fans. You will probably see new things and some of the old stuff. All I am going to say is sit back and see what the ROCK will have in store for us!!!

After a few days of thinking about this, I'm excited about Rockcastle football this year. I really hope Coach Parkey and the team have a great year.
