Richie and are whole family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and support. It warms my heart and just goes to show you that football players, coaches, and fans might disagree every now and then on different issues, but one thing that will always hold true is their love for the game. I think that is self-evident when you hear good news about a player and people reach out with positive things to say. Thanks BluegrassPreps for a forum where people that love football can talk about it. And a special thank you to Coach Buchanan for helping Richie obtain his goals and dreams of playing college football and getting a great college education. Saw Richie play against Frankfort High a few years back at Mason County. He seemed to be a good kid with a good head on his shoulders. I wish him nothing but the best at Harvard.

Great news for Mr. Cox! We attended the Harvaard football camp this past summer and what a place to be... the campus is unmatched and now one gets to play ball in the oldest football stadium in the USA! Good luck young fella...

Its amazing how big the endowment is at Harvard as compared to other schools. I think I read that there endowment is worth about $200M. If memory is correct, you pay zero to attend Harvard if your family income is under $60k.

It is right at 60k. That part is the easy part. The getting in is the hard part. There are 100,000 applications worldwide a year and only 900 get in. Without grades, test scores, and football this would not have been possible for Richie. We come from a long line of German- Austrian peons. Anything is possible in America if your willing to work for it!!!!

Of all the football players in the state of Kentucky this year who are going on to college, Richie Cox is the one who should be envied the most. The young man obviously understands how to get ahead in the game of life. Academics, academics, academics along with work ethic, determination, and athleticism has opened the door to one of the top higher education institutions in the country. And to think Richie Cox will not be paying for this education. WOW!

 

When you factor in the value of a full scholarship to Harvard, along with future earnings for Harvard graduates, this young man has just become a multi-millionnaire at age 18.
