- #2 on South Carolina is a very fast player and I like UK's defensive strategy of putting taller players on him all day and shadowing him all the way up the court (this is the same strategy I said that they should've used on Vaden way back when - and YES, it was Steveson that was guarding #2 most of the game)

I can only imagine how good Downey would be if he was still at UC. South Carolina always seems to have that one guard every year that gives UK fits for some reason.

I would disagree on his jump shot. I've seen him hit exactly one this year.

 

You haven't paid much attention then because I've seen him hit several from 12 to 15 feet this year.

It was mostly Jasper in the 2nd half. They tried a few different guys early, but it was never Stevenson. That would have been a riot...

 

Actually Stevenson did go out on him on one play in the first half and Downey blew by him like he was standing still for a layup.

It was a win for the Cats, they played hard and battled for 40 minutes. Not a great win, but it is survive and advance time. USC is simply not very good at all.

 

Let's be honest UK could beat the Heavenly Host of Angels without one of their best 2 scorers and it would only be an OK win in your eyes--correct?

I agree. I know he got 24 points but I thought I heard them say it took him 20 shots to get those points.He's so hard to contain and I think Kentucky did a better job than I expected.Man, I wish he would have transferred to Kentucky.

Jasper has shown a very good all-around game so far this season. He's an exceptional rebounder and is getting credit for being an accurate 3pt. shooter. I'd like to know if he's actually that good or if he's as bad as the UK fans made him out to be last season. I'm guessing it is somewhere in between--he plays hard and is solid.

No. Vaughn was always a SG recruit. Maybe no Warren...

I could be wrong and it could have even been on a switch but I think I remember him going right around Stevenson one play at the top of the key when he was clearly guarding (trying) him man to man.

 

I know I saw it at least once too, but I though it was more than that.

 

I remember thinking it was odd that BCG was using bigger guys against him. Seems like I remember Stevenson, Patterson, and Harris all guarding him at points (and not off switches).
