Does music really do this?

Featured Replies

Growing up all I heard was Rock Music was that of the Devil, with hidden lyrics if you played the record backwards(something I never found out for myself), now all the rage is Rap Music is that of Satan.

Come on if you let music steer you down the road of sin then there's something wrong with you to begin with, if you are that weak wash cloth of a person to let something like music be it Rock or Rap take you down the road of destruction then there's no hope for you.

I've heard over the year's that the group Kiss(one of my favorite bands) stood for Kids In Service for Satin, and one youth years ago claimed a KISS record told him to kill his parents, give me a break I've listened to just about every rock group coming and going. It's like Paul Stanley said on VH1's Behind the music, "It seems every preacher that tries to accuse us of statanism gets caught in a motel room with a hooker."

Does anybody really believe this?

No. Anyone who thinks that just because music sounds a certain way it's the devil's work is nuts.

What is the old joke?

If you play a country music song backwards, the dog comes back, the car ain't wrecked, the girlfriend stays, etc, etc.

I just had a discusion at work with a co-worker she was really way out in left field saying rock and roll and rap has took over her kids minds and how out of control they are(piercings and tattoos) I said maybe she needs to spend time with them when she isn't at work.

Yeah that joke is old. But it still gets a laugh every once in a while.

:thumb:It's called bad parenting, not rap music.

And good parenting would be not letting their kids listen to any form of music, rap, rock, country, that has messages that are not positive ones.

I guarantee that listening to the rap music of Toby Mac is a negative.

Yeah.. there is actually a song by Rascal Flatts referring to this, and it's called Backwards I think. But it basically says all of that, it's pretty funny.

I always thought that KISS meant Kids In the Service of Suede .

I think the other definition might be less offensive than this one.

In the 1950's, parents thought their kids listening to Elvis was scandalous.

In the 1960's, parents wished for the good 'ol days of Elvis while watching their kids listen to Jim Morrison's drug scene junk.

In the 1970's, Morrison was oldies and parents thought Aerosmith and AC/DC were scandalously loud and obnoxious.

In the 1980's, Aerosmith and AC/DC were considered 'classic rock' and Madonna was scandalous.

In the 1990's, Madonna was acceptable and grunge was druggie trash.

In the 2000's, we are remember Kurt Cobain as a classic icon and deplore the depths of Eminem.

The devil is in the eye of the Beholder.

I remember Bill Hicks routine on backwards messaging, too bad we can't post the video here.

I figured out I was old when my team played Villa Madonna, a small Catholic high school and AC/DC was being used as the girls' team's warmup music.

The music I was not allowed to listen to growing up was now being used by Catholic girls as warmup music.

It's the same feeling I get when I hear a classic rock song used to sell cars, insurance or whatever else. I don't want to stray from the thread topic, but I guess they are one in the same.

Very sad and very frustrating.

Knights In Satan's Service :D
