St. Patricks 67 Deming 64

Featured Replies

I thought Garth Grause played big for Deming down low on the defensive side. Alot of big blocks for him.

Garth Grause played a whale of a game tonight on both ends of the floor!

Has made huge strides as the season has progressed, will be a MAJOR contributing factor to the '08-'09 Blackdevils.

Tough loss for the home team tonight!

St. Patrick is a talented, veteran ball club who was up to the task.

Deming could have rolled over after getting caught and passed at the 4:48 mark, but didn't - regrouped and made a great game of it.

I disagree with the "Freshmen Mistake" comment above in reference to the two-point shot with the clock running out by one of the King twins. IMO it was the only shot open to him and with the clock running out, had no other option other than to swallow it.

I don't understand with 6 seconds left and down by three shooting a 15 ft jumpshot doesn't help. The shot wasn't going to be heavily contested when they saw it was a two and if he made it the clock would have run out in the in bounds. Maybe it wasn't a freshman mistake, maybe it was just the lack of thinking.

The Devils will be fine keep your heads up boys!

Hats off to the SAINTS and Coach Hinson, HIs players played one heck of a 4th quarter, to come back and win... Ver good Coaching

Both teams played their hearts out tonight. As I said before, it's a shame these 2 teams had to meet up the first round. This would've made for an exciting final. With that said, so much for that home court advantage everyone on this board seems to want to talk about. In the end, the best team won.

Anyone happen to know what happened to URIT?

I heard it had something to do with the Mafia.

It was the only shot the kid had, pretty good defense caused this, he caught the ball inside the 3 point line, the defense prevented him from floating outside the line. Too much emphasis is being put on this particular play and not enough on how much of a comeback the Saints had to pull this one out. Try the 4 straight turnovers by Deming that led to layups by St. Patrick as the emphasis to understand.

There would have been about 7 or 8 seconds on the clock if he made the shot. Deming would have called timeout (they had 1 or 2 left). Even with six seconds, thats plenty of time to get a foul, send them to the foul line and still get a decent look possibly for the win or tie.

I'm not taking away anything from St. Pat they played good tight D when it counted and caused turnovers that ultimately led to their win.

During that last play he was behind the line just didn't pull up...

St. Pat was really off in the first half of this game. They seemed to penetrate the defense but their shots were not falling. They managed to keep Demings lead from growing in the third, and dominated the fourth. This being said, I think they should do better for the rest of the tournament. Hopefully the Saints had their "off" night for the week and will pull together and do better for the remainder of the tournament.

Not to take anything away from Deming, they played an excellent game, I think they just ran out of steam and as a result made some turnovers that did them in in the fourth.

It was an exciting game, well worth the price of admission.

Imagine how hard it is to beat a team 4 times in one year? And to think these two could possibly hook up in the first round of the region if the cards fall right. How would you like to have to beat a team 5 times in one year?

Not a good thought....IMOM. Third time was a charm, fourth time was enough!

Were you at the game? If so, what did you think of the T on Mason? I didn't see him do anything after the initial call that looked like it was deserving of a technical foul, but maybe I missed something. I thought maybe he said something to the ref, but someone told me they thought it was just because he made a face.

I believe Mason was wanting a foul called and said something and the Ref was quick to call the technical. Most times this wouldn't be called but I think it was used as a message.

I agree it was an exciting game, I thought St. Patrick stepped their defense up in the fourth quarter, didn't play any defense the first 3 quarters. If they would run that intensity all 4 quarters they would be even better than they already are. St. Patrick basically played 6 on 4 in the 4th quarter. The 6th man was the ball handler from Deming who turned it over 3 straight times that resulted into layups. I can't for the life of me figure out why one of the King brothers was not asked to bring the ball up against the Saints press. They are the better free throw shooters, the go to guys on the Black Devil team. Congrats to the Saints!

IMO the 10th region All A should have been seeded. The top 4 teams are St Pat, Deming, Augusta and BB. These top 4 teams are in the top bracket!!!

Might make for a better draw, but how do you do it?

Not difficult. The 10th region ALL A coaches get together a week before the tourney and vote 1-9 on seeding. By then each coach should have had a chance to see each other. The vote wouldn't always be exactly right, but it would be pretty close, or close enough to make it fair.
