Colts' Super Bowl win a fluke?

Featured Replies

That Bears team was not as bad as you may remember. I'm not going to say that their offense was good but the team averaged 26.7 points per game, and 325 yards/ game. That's not horrible.

I may agree that Manning got (a little) too much credit, but no way was it a fluke.

Manning got a lot of credit primarily because no one single person dominated the Super Bowl.

For all of Manning's shortcomings in the Playoffs, he is the reason they were able to come back and beat the Pats last season. He easily could have folded but did not.

Neither Roethlisberger nor Favre have a history of choking in the postseason the way Peyton does, so that shoots your statement all full of holes. Jury's still out on Romo.

So tell me. Just exactly how many more Superbowls than Manning has Favre won? Roethlisberger? Romo?

I guess Marino sucked too? Jim Kelly was just awful? And that Tarkenton guy was a real choker?

Preach on.

At no time do I recall those guys making a career of losing in the big game with the better team the way Manning has, and repeatedly.

And one of the main reason's that Manning has the "better team" is because of himself. The Colts D is more to blame for the loss to SD than him.

Really? Because it sure seemed to me it was the "best quarterback ever" who completed only two of his final 10 pass attempts in the game, for a whoppin' 21 yards? Maybe I was wrong and it was Bob Sanders throwing all those incompletions.

And to shoot even more holes in this: Indy's defense forced a three-and-out on San Diego to give Peyton the ball back at the Indy 32 with 1:30 left on the clock, and a time out. Guess that wasn't enough time. BTW -- that was the second three-and-out Indy's defense forced in the fourth quarter.
