The problem with quitting is it gets easier the next time.

Dodd and the sunshine gang needs to hit the road. Football is successful do to a stable environment for the players. Basketball has struggled since Sparks left, but the higher-ups don't get it. Bring in a familiar face that can reenergize the program and get out of the way. My husband and I have been fans of all the programs, but basketball is very hard to watch due to the turmoil that surrounds it. I don't agree with players leaving, but only the players, parents, and coaches know the true story. So, leave it to them to sort it out.

I have this thing about younger players, I believe that the older players should get the playing time and the younger players get the sub minutes. If a senior played last year and a younger player takes his time this year it is not fair. The younger player has another year to play . The senior or juniors have given their time and should be respected for that. Now mind you the older players can and did play the sport well. They have paid their dues, so to speak.

 

 

So if a Younger player is getting more minutes then the older kid the older kid should quit?

I as a parent would not let it happen again . My child and their feelings are just as important as the others. Mine would not particapate in this sport again and if I was a coach I would not let them on the team again. But this is just IMO enough said.

When this happens and a younger player gets a lot more playing time I for one would quit the team. I think there are some that should and are going to quit.

 

When a player is not getting the playing time he thinks should, why not tell him "as I have told some of my young relatives" just practice more and harder so he can get better than other players, thereby getting more playing time. Everyone should know that a coach is going to play the player that is best for the team first, because he wants to win as well as the players. One of the reasons for having any contest is to see who can win and playing the oldest player is not always going to do that. Kids should be taught to be the best they can be, but if someone is better except their place wherever it may be and they will be an asset to the team in that position. Every one can't be President.

Not anger. Just keeping the facts straight. These two players played as much if not more minutes than anybody. There may be alot of reasons they quit but playing time was not one of them. Some seemed to want to talk if it was so I was just making sure they had at least some of the facts.

Was it the overall season? Their record is certainly poor and I suppose it was tough to keep going out.....but they shouldn't have quit.

 

Certainly not judging anyone....just judging the decision.

There are alot of posts on this thread that I would like to address. Just let me say since the current Russell bb coach arrived there has been nothing but turmoil. It's time for him to go. A 16th region championship after a severe drought didn't even get the community excited. There have been too many Red Devils either not play or quit. All the "never quit posters" on here apparently dont understand the depth of the problem in Russell.
