Ryle 53 Gallatin Co. 38

Just a question but why only two in stripes? Every HS basketball game that I have attended this year, has had three men in stripes for the Varsity games and that includes a game I saw at Ryle. BTW I totally agree that most of the Refs in the Ninth Region are really, really bad....

It is up to the host school as to whether there will be 2 or 3 officials for the game.

Yeah I know you have. Others on the site may not know what all the goings on in a game are for though, so I thought I would provide insite. No other intent than that.

No problem :thumb: ...and you are right. Most people do not no all of the pregame activities that have to take place and how precise everything has to be with the official book. However, an official should NEVER ask the players how many people are dressing for their game, nor should the visiting book be checked for accuracy. As long as the correct number of players, their numbers and starters are given to the official book, there doesn't even have to be a visitor's book. If a player checks into the game and he/she is NOT in the book (#only), then that team receives a technical foul. If some starts other than who was designated, then the team gets a technical foul for that also.

Officials that do more than this are overstepping their bounds and going beyond the rules...and NO pregame discussion should take place with the players.

Yea good call Jeanie they are 13-4 and the 4 L's have come against 4 pretty good teams.

I didn't mean it as a whole, I was meaning that some L's late before the "All A" isn't always great. You need some 'MO' going into the All A, and them getting beat badly against Ryle, isn't a plus +, I know their a great time, look at my other post, GC is good. Sorry that I didn't clearify.

Bigger than Trimble over Walton at Walton? Or have you not seen many games Jeanie?

I am a Walton lover (haven't missed a WV in a long time), but Walton is an up and down team. One night they are lights out, one night they're not. Anyone good beat Walton any night, no surprise when they get beat. I would say this is a bigger shock than Trimble's over Walton. GC normally is always a lock to win against each team they play, I know Walton isn't. Agree or not?

Gallatin has a break in their schedule before playing a tough Shelby County team. I am certain that coach Jones will get the boys back on track during this time and probably add a few new wrinkles to mix to boot!. I doubt the loss at Ryle will have any lingering impact on this club come All A time.

See you there at the All A.

If you read the earlier posts they did not get beaten "badly". Game was closer than the score indicated. Ryle tacked on some points at the end with foul shots. The score was 41-36 about midway through the final quarter.

Plus there is a decent chance they could lose their next game at Shelby Co. Those losses will mean nothing when the 'A' rolls around especially with a veteran group like this one.

No, disagree. They had one call go against them. Up until that point I would guess that Ryle had been pegged for 4-5 more total fouls than GC. One don't think one bad call - and, believe me, it could very easily have been a charge call as it was one of those bang-bang plays - qualifies as a "royal screwing." Ryle was ultimately the better team in this game and this call alone did not decide that.

There are more than just fouls called that the officials have control over. I was there and in my opinion it was the worst officiated game I have seen this year. The calls were equally bad on both ends of the floor with what seemed to be several calls that were just made up to call something, ie...the two walk calls while players were dribbling. It was a weird night and Ryle played through it and got a tough win.
