Cityside Bar and Grill, Newport

Featured Replies

No kids after 10:00 PM is the rule at most bar and grills. I think he owns another place besides the ones mentioned but not certain if he still does. He has a lot of good people working for him.

This wasn't after 10:00. I witnessed the little guy(owner) grab a child by the arm one evening for acting like a child. Under no circumstances does another adult touch someone's child for any reason. I could really care less who he is. Good thing for Mr Miagee it wasn't my child!!!! I have since starting eating at the 915 agian since he has sold it!!!! Great Burgers and Wings

Boy you seem to get around town a lot, first a swim meet at Scott High School and then dinner and drinks in Newport.:D

Have you ever sat through a swim meet? Adult beverages are necessary afterwards.:thumb:

I have sat through many a swim meet in the summer, but never felt the need to eat anything but Dixie Chili afterward.

Where were you tonight that you think you were in my company? I was at Town and Country watching soccer games this evening.

We have adult beverages served to us during swim meets. It definately makes it go a whole lot faster!!!!:D

We go to Jerzee's quite a bit. Very nice little spot...

If Jerzee's would get a 52 inch TV it would definitely be the place to go. Nice atmosphere, close to home and clean. The Tv's are good quality but just not big enough IMO. Havent been in Cityside yet since it was Capt. Cove, might check it out soon.

I stopped in to CitySide last night for a few cocktails.

It seems to be more of a restaurant now than a bar, that's not a problem, just pointing it out.

Reminded me of a small Applebee's.

Nice place but not sure it will become a regular spot. We started there until the end of the football game and went elsewhere.

I think they want to try and make it an upscale place to drink and have food without having to go down and get in all the hustle bustle that Tropicana brings.

I prefer a restaurant bar nowadays.

Been to the Cityside once and I am in no hurry to go back. Food was OK but service was terrible. Owner was there and he knew the service was lacking, but he was more interested in entertaining his friends at the bar than helping out.

I would agree with this, the service was not great.

Me too, when I'm going to eat.

I've been for lunch twice and had no problems with the service. Might be a different story when dinner time rolls around though.

Kind of what i was talking about in post #8. I have encountered this on more occasions than one. I use to like when people would be waiting for a table at the 915 and a table would open up only for him to put some close personal friends there that walk in after the people waiting. That happened to me once and it didn't go over very well. He told me that the couple had called in a reservation earlier which is bullcrap when you don't take reservations in the first place. I know friends are important but sometimes you have to run a business and make a living. I hope his friends are paying the bills!!!!
