January 15, 200818 yr Kind of what i was talking about in post #8. I have encountered this on more occasions than one. I use to like when people would be waiting for a table at the 915 and a table would open up only for him to put some close personal friends there that walk in after the people waiting. That happened to me once and it didn't go over very well. He told me that the couple had called in a reservation earlier which is bullcrap when you don't take reservations in the first place. I know friends are important but sometimes you have to run a business and make a living. I hope his friends are paying the bills!!!! That same thing happened to me at Warners one night in the summer. Outdoor was packed, band playing and another couple and us put our name in and got a drink. We stood there for 45 minutes just chatting, enjoying the band and we saw a local businessman with his office right down the street walk up with a party of 5 and whisper in the owner's ear. I watched for 5 minutes while the owner scanned and finally found a table. He cleaned it off personally and we were next up so I was waiting to see what he would do. Sure enough he sat his buddy and his party and I walked up and made a scene. The guy told me "tough luck" basically and I was fuming. I told our party that we needed to leave and that is when my wife walked up to him and explained the situation. Probably better she did because I was ready to knock the guy out in front of his customers. She came back to us and said that he was sorry and was going to make it right by seating us immediately and that the tab was on him. I thought that was a nice gesture but his immediate reaction to me questioning the seating situation was just rude and bad for business. I was polite and said that I frequent his place a lot and didnt appreciate that and he was like "so what". I know it was a very stressfull night and very busy but at the end of the day you either know how to run a restaurant or you dont. Trust me, when the wife said the tab was being paid for, my buddy and I ordered Top Shelf drinks and Surf and Turf baby. But to be honest, I havent been back.

Although if I owned a popular restaurant, I'd probably do the same thing. I'm a jerk, I'm well aware.
January 15, 200818 yr To be honest I don't try to venture too far north of 275 these days. Occasionally Dickmans or BW3's, but since they opened up Willies Sports Cafe in Independence I haven't seen much need to head more than a mile from my house. The only reason I see fit to head to a new bar is to meet new people, and I'm perfectly content with the ones I already know. Plus I'm not sure a bar is the best place to meet knew people.:sssh:
