Besides the District games who would you schedule?

I'd like to see them play a tough schedule. Maybe get Bell and Rockcastle for sure...Teams with tradition.

Might be hard getting a schedule together for the Black Bears. Many teams have contracts already in place, I would assume.

 

Let the Black Bears sharpen their claws on the likes of...

You have to remember even though consolidation is taking place it

does not mean that their players have never been coached or the

players have never played before. As a coach myself I have been

very impressed over the years at all the teams and coaches in

that area Reynolds at Cumberland, Canady at Evarts, and even

Perry in his first year at Cawood. I see great things out of those

mountains if they all come together, so I would shut-up and buckle

IMO they will have a hard time filling a quality schedule b/c it is year 2 of schools 2 year contracts. I would think they will have to wait to next year to get some of the better non-district games added.

Well, I could see them having to even head to other states for a few non-district games. The whole contract thing might hurt them, but I wouldn't worry about having a great non-district schedule. Just get what you can.

My guess is that they will fill in the blanks with schools who lost games with Cumberland and Evarts.

Excellent research, and a great point. So really, the only concern is 2 games. This really shouldn't be too bad for an A.D. to take care of.

Why was the Harlan Co. coaching thread locked?

 

Was told last night Coach Hilton turned down the job at Harlan Co.?

 

Maybe Coach Hilton can find a way to get Harlan Co. on Bells schedule, would be an interesting game.

I think it would be good for the Bears to play a top-notch opponent like Bell.

Log Mountain. You men in Harlan have got great football players,

coaches, community, and superintendent that has a tremendous

understanding of your needs. Never sell yourself or your

capabilities short and stay the course whatever it may be. (Reynolds

at Cumberland)(Canady at Evarts) are the both talented coaches

that continually instill pride and winning in your young people. (Bell County

has dressed around 30-35 players year in year out). There are many more

than 30 that are capeable of playing on a championship team than 30. Once

I believe you forgot about Eric Perry at Cawood. He is not too shabby. Seems he has been the one being left out of the equation through all of this.

Have not seen Eric coach or his team play but John and Ovie have proven

they have the ability to coach football. Saw video of Cawood and felt

that he was playing alot of young players and was only dressing around

30. This is not a negative about him I just think the others do a great job

and have earned some respect North of 75, and have taken their teams

on the road in some tough situations. I have all the respect in the world

for Eric's brother and have coached against him many times. With that

being said time is the best teacher. Whoever takes the lead in Harlan

County one thing is for sure the coaches their will do whatever it takes

to make them a great program.
