I'm saying fans need to understand whats going on. A coach cant just say to his team "do it my way" "NO" "OK, fine..." The players arent buying in, they are being lazy and not wanting to work. So BCG is continually pressing his system on them. If they bought it, we wouldnt be losing to SD or GW.

January 8, 200818 yr I have to say that I certanly respect your post on here as well, as you did in this one post you always make good points and post with respect and class. :thumb: I basically just get sick of hearing/reading on how "OTS has ruined U.K. basketball", gimme a break - I beleive if someone would really look at his record while here and think a bout it then they would have to laugh at those allegations also. Yes, Tubby had a couple of bad classes recruiting wise - imo he put too much faith in his assistants(Hansen and Rigot) in recruiting and wasn't enough "hands on". Imo Hansen blew it on the Hansbourough recruiting when he didn't follow up on it - Hansbourough basically said that when he said that he was waiting on U.K. to get back with him and it didn't happen. If I remember correctly Hansen was the one keeping up (or not doing so) on him. Regardless it was OTS's program though and the ultimate responsibility fell on him. I just think that his assitants were kept on staff way too long and hurt him in recruiting by "slacking" in that area. I don't expect to convince anyone of my views and I respect others opinions on here when they put it in the right way, several do and some imo do not. :thumb: As for ther constant blaming of Tubby I just go back to the old saying...."you will never go foward by looking in the rear view mirror". I also beleive that some are still wanting the days of Pitino and expect that kind of team EVERY season. The talent level that RP had here in few years stretch just does ot happen very often anywhere and may never happen again, I sure hope so and I hope the we get another two or three classes like that though...:thumb: You make an excellant point about Tubby putting too much faith in his assistants. Tubby is such a honorable and loyal man that when UK wanted Tubby to get rid of his assistants he stuck to his guns and refused. It may have hurt him in the long run but it speaks volumes for his character. I in no way think that Tubby ruined UK basketball at all. UK bball is not ruined just because we have 1 bad year during a transition period. All I meant was that I put some of the blame on him as well as other things such as injuries and a new system with a new coach. Like I said, nobody can argue that the guy can coach. He may just be the best tourney coach in the country and one of the best X's and O's coaches period. It's the lack of recruiting skills is the reason I was ready for a change. Unfortunately in college bball a coach's skills on the court take a backseat to the recruiting abilities. I too get sick of hearing UK fans gripe about Tubby as well as griping about BCG, Barnhart, Brooks, and anything else that isn't just perfect. It really gives the realistic honest UK fans a bad reputation throughout college b-ball. It drives me nuts to listen to these callback shows on the radio after UK games and hear these idiots blame everything under sun for UK's tough season thus far and then say UK should fire somebody. After 13 games? Are you kidding me? People have to realize that this is a rebuilding year (yes,even UK can have a rebuilding year) with a new coach and a new system. It will take some time for BCG to get things going and we have to be patient. BGC will return us to excellannce, I truly believe that. But Old Rambler, I respect your opinion greatly and you always show nothing but class on here and sometimes that is very difficult to do.

That being the case, he obviously didn't feel they were capable, and should have replaced them at UK. 2) Best tournament coach? Seriously? He went into the NCAA tourney several times at the #1 seed and couldn't get to a final four. He's a very good in game coach, no doubt, but its hard to say he was a good tournament coach.

I mean when he went to Minnesota, he needed to surrond himself with some guys who know that area more and are use to recruiting in that area. The guys he had definitely were not those guys... 2. Well I dont know if I would say best tournament coach, but then again I dont know who I would call as the best tournament coach. I mean Billy D before the last two years, couldn't get past the 1st round. Coach K of Duke also has not been doing to hott in the tournament lately. Then well everyone seems to love Roy Williams but seems to forget he doesn't do that well in tournaments, even though alot of times he has had the most talented team in the tournament. Tubby was a #1 seed a few times, and the one time they had the best player hurt in Bogans, and played just against a team that was really hot that day and also just had a dominate player in Wade. The 04 team well they lost in the 2nd round, it was an upset. That happens in the tournament, it has happened to other 1 seeds as well. Then 05 we lost to the same Michigan State team that beat Duke in the sweet 16. Then now the last two years, everyone was saying we would lose in 1st round to UAB, and Nova, yet Tubby got his teams to beat both of those guys, and then give very good games against the 1 seeds. So Tubby definitely did know how to coach in the NCAA tournament. Was he the best as the guy said, maybe not, but then again as I said who really is these days with even the smaller schools being tough to beat in the tournament.
