Obviously you need to re read my post....I was just trying to find a possible justification for the actions. As far as the Camel game I can only tell you what I watched and that was him leaving the floor to the locker room before the presentations and obviously regrouping behind closed doors. If he returned I did not see it but am not saying you are incorrect. No problem, but since it was the brother's first meeting, I was watching for the reactions as well; and he started to leave after the line-up, but regrouped as you said and came back. Agree on the above statement!! :thumb:

I thought Jarrod White stepped up and played a whale of a game. Plus, knocking down the game winner had to be icing on the cake. The King twins amazed me again at how cool and calm they are to be Freshman. Grause played much stronger inside and needs to keep it up. Caleb Curtis played a good game as well. They all just need to work hard on staying focused on each and every game.

:thumb: Come Class A and District time they cannot play a good game and then a bad. White stepped up really BIG pulling down a lot of boards and not to mention scoring the game winning putback! Nothing but a bright future ahead for the Devils IMO.

Listened to the post-game and it sounded like White and Grause really stepped up for Deming. If they can get consistant scoring from others than the Kings, they will be a lot tougher as the season goes on!!

O.K... I'm joining this thread in progress after spending some time at school watching the tape to make sure that we had our ducks in a row, and getting a little dinner while listening to the exploits of Coach Chris Schreiber's 5th and 6th Grade AAU Girls team.

 

A) As to the Campbell County game post-game, Coach Mike Code came down to the broadcast table immediately following the game, had a quick word with me and then RETURNED to the bench for the trophy presentations. INDISPUTABLE FACT

 

B) I have no idea what happened after the game tonight at Deming, Mike was obviously upset and probably didn't stop to hug and heap adulations on Coach Johnson. Mike is a straight forward, stide to the locker-room, after a tough loss guy, and probably a brief acknowledgement was all that took place. Probably the best source would be Jamey Johnson.

 

C) The final foul of the game was bogus - are we all in agreement here??? My question is why would a veteran official make a phantom call with the game on the line. My opinion is that he thought that Brossart was down one (instead of up one) and that we would foul immediately to stop the clock and send Deming to the line, and he simply anticipated something that didn't happen. That is the only reasonable explanation. Any other thoughts would equate to a conspiracy theory.

 

D) Even with that foul called, Luke King only tied the game with the first shot and then missed the second - BB didn't get the rebound and Jarrod White hit the game winner.

 

E) As in all games, you can cite many other instances that could have won or lost you the game previous to the final foul call. Our guard committed what could very easily (should have been called) an intentional foul. We got a break there. On our last basket of the game our scorer appeared to have traveled - another break. Overall being a young inexperienced team we make a lot of mistakes - bad passes, missed layups, fail to finish high percentage shots, failure to box off, poor defensive positioning etc., etc., etc.,.

 

We try to convince everyone (and ourselves) that this is a first year varsity basketball team comprised of guys who did not play one meaningful minute of varsity basketball last year and are coming off of a 13-9 JV team and a 17-9 freshmen team. So. maybe we are doing fine under the circumstances, gaining experience and will benefit from these tough losses down the road and/or next year. Right now, even after graduating 8 championship caliber seniors, maybe being competitive with above average St. Patrick, Deming, and Augusta teams isn't that bad. Not what we've grown accoustomed to - but not that bad.

 

We are still a month away from the 10th Region "A" Tournament. If we have determined anything in this Bracken County Tournament this week, it is that nothing has been determined and that it is wide open. I feel very strongly that we are very much in the mix.

 

We will keep working hard to get better, as will the oppositon and then we will bait them all up and throw them all out there again in late January and see who shakes out. Should be interesting.

Noticed the same thing. He basically sprinted to the locker room and didn't shake all of the SP players' hands. (And there was no celebrating going on on the floor either).

 

Didn't this happen after the loss at Mason Co last year as well? Do we detect a pattern here? This never would have happened when Willie was at Bishop Brossart.

Maybe it was and maybe it wasn't. If it was then the last foul on Curtis for Deming was also. He was palying solid D on the ball. Both teams had played tighter D throughout the game and they didn't call fouls until it was time the players should have been deciding the game and not the officials.

 

I will agree on the intentional no call when Curtis was fouled. The very same official called an intentional on Curtis in the St. Pat game when he was going for the ball on a lay up. He did foul the guy but I wouldn't have called it intentional. But, today he is put in a headlock and it is a 1 and 1.

 

I just don't think the officiating was consistent on either side today. Just like ball teams even officials have off days as well.
