Just wanted Post #5,000 to be a Mason County-related post. Looking forward to seeing how the Royals respond tomorrow to the long road trip in the LexCath tourney.

Congratulations to you and all Mason County fans.:thumb: You have a great, fun team to watch, as is the norm in most years.

I have been impressed with them since the 1981 state tournament, the year they were runner-up to Simon Kenton, when half of Rupp Arena seemed to be dressed in royal blue. Mason County has one of the most loyal and supportive fan bases in the state.

Thank you for the kind words.

As I recall, at the time that game set an all-time attendance record for a HS game.

Yes it did...but was broken when Morgan Co played in the state a few years back.

Great way to post your #5000. You are a tribute to your Royal team...class act all the way.:thumb:

Simon Kenton's school colors are blue as well.

I think it's easier to be an objective fan when you're an old guy like me and basketball isn't a matter of life and death. Do I love to watch Mason County play - sure I do, but as a casual fan I don't go into a spiraling depression when things don't go their way.

Now, mcmama and mcdaughter might not be of the same mindset...

Mostly a product of spending my formative years in a state and a high school where basketball played second fiddle to football.;)

You used to live in Nebraska??

What was the attendance in that ballgame?

Not sure on the #. I just remember Andrew telling me that the officials told him the last night of that state tourney that Morgan Co. had broken Mason Co record. Andrew has worked the state tourney for many years.

The 81 State Finals had over 20,000 in attendance. It was then a world record crowd for a high school basketball game. It has since been broken in Indiana when they used to play the tournament in the RCA dome. As for the Sweet 16 it has surpassed the 81 attendance a few times. But, the Morgan Co. game was not one of them.

I was at the tourney when Morgan Co. played and believe me Rupp was no where near having 20,000 in the building.

That is exactly why I asked the question to Goldsunrise, because there is no way the Morgan County game broke the attendance.
