Great post Comic Book Guy. It has been a really long time since I heard fans of a losing team say "boy, they really whipped us tonight. We should have played better."

 

Of course it is always the refs fault.

 

I'm not a Madison Central fan. If you read my post I also said my team benefited from poor officiating last night. I also said Corbin played extremely hard and got a good win. In no way am I attacking Corbin, I have a lot of respect for their program and love to watch them play, they are extremely scrappy. However, I think it is naive to insinuate that the one official last night was not obviously bias in his calls in both games.

I know the officials made some bad calls. I also know that "bald" ref is a human being and when people start yelling deragatory (sp?) comments towards him and calling him names that may get in his head and affect the way he starts seeing things.

 

I remember once in the third quarter when there was an obvious bad call in Corbin's favor the two coaches looked at each other with sarcastic smiles and traded comments.

 

Feldhaus said "What was that?" and Pietrowski responded "you have got every call so far." Feldhaus shook his head in agreement and let the argument go.

 

Bad officiating is part of the game. It happens in every tournament, every game, on everyone's court.

Nobody has ever explained how a ref from Corbin is a ref in a Corbin game.But like I said I am not a fan of MC or Corbin,and from a whole lot of unbiased eyes it looked like blatant favoritism.

Nobody has thrown out the refs name or any facts saying that ref is from Corbin either. Like I said, when you are a ref and have fans calling you names and making threats towards you it may make you dislike the other team. That may not be the right thing to do as a ref, but it is certainly possible.

 

If you were doing your job and someone is threatening to catch you outside after work and etc.. Or if someone is yelling and calling you fat and/or baldy in front of hundreds of other people how does that make you feel? Would it make you want to do things to make those people happy? I think not.

The the fact that he is from Corbin is hearsay from fans at a ball game? Well then it must be the truth then. Sounds like whomever made the ref assignments made an error then.

Its hearsay as far as I know,but I haven't heard any Corbin guys on here dispute it.

The foul trouble was by design. Corbin attacked the basket and Manns posted hard all night. Manns gave the big kids for MC fits all night. Johnson shot the ball well and Cashen played a great game. He played as well as I have ever seen him play. He picked up the ball every time it was near him whether it was a steal, a rebound or a loose ball. He played great defense and was a senior leader which all teams need. Bubba if that was you in the hat you are uglier than I imagined you.

I didn't think he was from Corbin.............or if he is, he has not been around here very long.

 

There were a lot of fouls called, some I'm sure were missed, but Madison Central's defensive style and Corbin's offensive style led to many of the fouls. Corbin missing so many almost cost them the game.

I know refs have a thankless job and all that stuff, but it's there job to do it right and to let the kids decide the outcome of the game. I'm neither a Corbin or a Madison Central fan and I could easily tell a difference. The North Laurel-Rock game was the same way. 13th Region refs take care of their own a suppose.

Maybe they like doing these tournaments and would like to continue doing more in the future. Seems like the same 8 or 9 do all the extra game like these. I'm sure when 13th teams go out of their region they feel the officiating is one sided the wrong way and somethimes I would guess it is, is this right NO WAY! Does it happen I'm sure it does. IMO Madison Central would love to play any of these teams in Richmond.
