It would probably have been a pay cut for Hensley to leave Taylor to go to Newport.

 

Probably so but I would think that if they truly wanted Hensley or for that matter anyone that appeals to them the administration could find some creative ways to get his salary up in the range of what he makes in Ohio. He is a 1st Class gentleman that any school would be lucky to have.

Remember when Schlarman was hired he was actually a second choice to Doc Gamble from Withrow due to Brandt's tie w/ him. I can't imagaine Doc would leave there but who knows.

Well if this is the case I hope every one gets behind Coach Hider an his staff.

Newport IMO lost alot of talent from their previous teams and this past season showed it. Newport has three classes that have had winning records in their freshmen levels. Therefore they should have a great opportunity to produce a winning season for 2008. Meaning, Coach Hyder will have a lot of talent to work with and a group that wants to be good and play hard nose football. As far as my opinion on who calls the plays -- Coach Salter is a great individual -- he is Newport through and through -- and hopefully he learned alot from this past season.

 

Overall -- Good Luck next season, Coach Hyder and Staff.

I hope that Newport stays consistent. They do have some talented classes moving up and consistency will mean more than anything for these kids. Newport has some very good coaches on staff and given the talent that is coming up they should be ready for an impressive run.

I am going to say that if Hyder is not returning that the powers to be at Newport will approach Mike Wolff to be the next head coach.

Mike Wolfe ..... sorry but IMO I believe they need to stay with Coach Hyder -- you don't give the man a job in a rebuilding year and expect miracles. Like I stated before -- a lot of young talent moving up. If I am correct Newport's freshmen staff has produce three winning seasons which I believe will enhance the program for next season.
