Considering Warren Central's recent season (5-5 I think) and the fact they only play 9 regular season games, it is unlikely these two or Ben Davis and Trinity will ever meet in the near future. Ben Davis has fallen on hard times in recent years. I understand WC's district has been changed and like Ben Davis,, they have not been able to make up for the loss of talent.

 

They went into this season with a 56-4 record the last four years. They sent nine kids D1 last year. I can't believe they fell off that bad this season. When you say their district, are you talking about the area they gather students from?

I can't comment on Ben Davis but Warren Central was the 5A state champs 2003,2004,2005,&2006. They may of had a bad year this year but I would say they have had a hard time making up for a loss of talent. They had 119 kids on their varsity roster (10-12) and 91 on their Freshman roster. I would say as an outsider looking in it was coaching. That was the only thing that really changed from the 4 state title teams to this year.

Wouldn't a class that had been there for each of the 4 state titles also be gone? Maybe it was one of the cycles of exceptional talent that went through the school and is now gone?

That class would have been freshmen in 2003 and wouldn't have played.

I would love to see this game. It may not be pretty for Trinity. That Warren Central team in 2003 was the best team I've ever seen. I know X didn't have Ashley, but I would take WC over them.

I think you are probably right.

I was told the area schools they draw from was changed. Still due to schedules, it is very doubtful they will play Trinity.

I think that WC team was as nasty as I have ever seen. That said, I would've loved to have seen our '02 go against them...not saying we would win, but I bet it would've been fun at worst.

Talk about a huge school, one of my best friends went to high school there and he took me up to see it one time. That place is like a college campus. Very nice.

Our 2001 team was good, very good. But we had more people going both ways, and with a team that ran as effectively as WC did, I fear that we may have worn down in the end.

I've maintained since that season that it was quite possibly the best defense Trinity's ever put on the field. Not to mention that growing up watching the Lampley and Servino old-school offenses, it was a sight to behold when Wright and then Beatty came in and the offense opened up, becoming what it is now. The '01 team was fun to watch every minute of the game, plus they brought the first state title to St. Matthews since 1994. Definitely one of Trinity's best teams ever.
