The Big ten really does have a conference championship it is called OSU Mich which by the way is played at the end of the year for a reason. In all honesty it would be better for both teams to play earlier on, however the Big Ten stands for tradition and it will always be played last. To say the Big Ten is a two team race is flat out dumb. Last year the Big Ten# 3 Wisconson beat the SEC Runner-up , Penn St. Big Ten#4 beat Tennessee ( In all honesty do not remeber where they finished) And I will end on this: All I hear is complaints about how tough an SEC championship game is for these teams. If it was not for this game that you guys complain about you would have been shut out of the NC last year, and this year. I would say that is a bonus not a hinder. And your juggernaught Big Ten Championship got thoroughly embarrassed in the title game.
December 18, 200718 yr What BCS school do you propose they steal to have a title game? Do you split UM and OSU when you have to divide in to 6 team splits? Blast the Big 11 for being average of late. Fair game. The conference title game talk is a joke... They need to figure out a way to get Notre Dame on board. The Irish usually play 3 or 4 Big 11 teams anyhow. If Charlie doesn't turn things around soon, and ND can't renew their TV deal, it could happen, however, if the money keeps rolling in, I can't see ND joining up with anybody.
December 18, 200718 yr ^ ND will not join until the BCS forces them to do so....that will be hard to do, IMO... That said, the Big 11 really needs to find someone to join, they can then have a championship game and resolve a lot of disdain for their mediocrity.

You have to realize that we're being realistic. Most SEC fans give the props that are due to the other teams and their conferences but when the experts even say it's the toughest conference in football then it's not us "beliving" what we want. The SEC has a strong tradition just as any other conference.

If your arguement was that the Big 10 already has a conference championship game OSU/UM, how can the the others be anything but insignificant. Apparantly they are just warm up games for the one tough game either school must win to get to the NC game.
December 18, 200718 yr let me say...I HATE THE SEC, but easily recognize their supreme dominance as the top dog, that doesn't mean they'll take home the title year in and year out...actually they often beat themselves out of it...that said....the Big Ten looks as if it is starting to recognize its own flaws and some schools are going to force change.

Yes, but I still think that the Big 10's best move would be to find a way to presuede the Irish to join up. With regard to football, which really is the main focus for ND, I just don't see that the Big East is a very good fit. It's not like they often play anybody from the Beast. Big 10 would be a much better fit, historically, geographically, etc. I realize that it won't happen anytime soon, but if / when the BCS requires a conference championship game, the Big 10 would be crazy not to make ND priority #1.

You keep UM and OSU in same division to keep rivalry going or you make them a common opponent. 9 conference games as opposed to 8 is not harder?
December 18, 200718 yr The BCS will not require a conference title game for a long, LONG time. No way they get enough support from the Pac 10, Big 11 and Big East. There are a lot of powerful people in charge of keeping the NCAA out of the college football pie. ND included. My talk of ND tied to the Big East is only about the non BCS Bowl tie ins. The Gator Bowl can hold the Big East hostage in 3 of every 4 years under the current deal. Don't forget there were several deals done at the last Bowl negotiations with the help of ND and the thought they wouldn't spend much time out of the BCS. We should find out a lot in this debate after next season when a lot of Bowl contracts are back on the table...

But then again nobody wants to hear facts against the almighty and they won't read them.13-13 not as poor as you thought, but then again the SEC is not as good as you think. I am not saying it is bad because that is simply not true, it is just not as good as most think! I'd say you are only of the only people who says the SEC isn't as good as most think. What is your reasoning behind this? I mean look: Kentucky was ranked as high as 7th this year Florida had another really good year LSU was at the top all year long Georgia and Tennessee started slow and finished as strong as any team in the nation. Arkansas and Alabama competed all year. Auburn is another team that can compete with a lot of the upper teams in the NCAA. I do believe that maybe all the teams mentioned above were ranked in the top 25 at one point in the year. The SEC had 3 heisman hopefuls at one point: Tebow, Woodson, McFadden I'm not trying to say that other conferences are horrible or can't compete with the SEC but right now the SEC has earned the top spot in the conference rankings IMO.

At the time Penn State was the right team to bring in. Are you knocking the Big 11, and them faulting them for not adding an inferior program to get to 12?
