Just got back from the game. From the book I kept, scoring for Carroll went like this.

 

Cable 19 - 9 in the 4th quarter

Yager 17 - 6 in the first and 4th quarter - 1 3 pointer

Hendrick - 12 - 10 in the first half including his first ever 3 pointer.

Allen - 8 points - all in the first 3 quarters.

Craig 3 - 2nd quarter

Welch 3 - 1 3 pointer

Ross 2 - 4th quarter

 

Finally met Lunatic1 tonight. Glad to put a face to a name.

 

Here's what I saw and since there were an abundance of BGP'ers there tonight, correct me if I'm wrong.

 

In other posts, comments were made about players going out for themselves and not for the team. I saw some of that. Wasn't as bad as I thought it might be, but did see that.

 

I saw a Gallatin defense that is strong. Strong to the hole and up and down the floor quick. The Wildcats looked good tonight.

 

I saw a young Carroll team that isn't real far away from winning those games that they need to win. Turnovers are a big problem. Coach Miller even said so in talking to him after the game.

 

Just my opinions.........Folks that were there, am I wrong in that assessment??

I don't think Gallatin played their best game. If they would have played defense in the first half like they did in the second half this might have been a 35+ win. I am not taking anything away from the Panthers but Gallatin didn't put together two good halves.

 

I agree on the defense, but scoring wise, two excellent halves.

Carroll's kids seem to be working hard and will continue to get better in time. Tough times don't last; tough people do.

 

Gallatin is a veteran ballclub that has big game tournament experience. The rematch in Carrollton should be interesting.

The difference in this game IMO was Gallatin's defense in the second half. When the Cats turned up the pressure, the (young) Panthers wilted. I would have liked to hear what Coach Jones said to his players at halftime to get them so fired up on defense. Congrats to the Panthers for playing so hard to keep this game as close as they did.

 

I don't think coach Jones had to say much at all to get them fired up. There were times in the first half that the coaches put the freshman in to play. Gallatin knew they could beat this team by 30 if they wanted and so they put the pressure on in the second half to get the job done.:thumb:

I saw several exchanges between their own players that will ultimately result in them not reaching their full potential. On one exchange a fellow panther tried to calm down a player and he swiped his arm away and told him to get the heck off of me. I hate to see this on any team even if it is a rivalry.

:laugh::laugh::laugh: So I guess that means Gallatin is twice as good as Carroll!

I would not say "several" exchanges; however, I did see one unfortunate exchange. Maybe you watched the game more closely than I. As a former educator of some of the athletes, this is most difficult to watch.

 

Congrats GC - the more skilled, better coached team won!

 

I would like to quickly praise the CC varsity players who are displaying a good attitude, team work, playing your hearts out and play the game as it should be despite the obstacles (and we all know what they are) you are facing. Keep up the good work and you will eventually see the results.;)

Gallatin shares the ball to everyone so well. One of the best teams probably around to get som many players in double digits! They are in each part of their game! Maybe another all 'A' run? Walton will be the only one to stop that this year, I think! Good win for Gallatin! Looks like another bright season.

Walton stopped GC earlier this year. Oh that's right a depleted GC squad beat the Bearcats on their home floor.

It will help that the All A is at Gallatin and yes, Gallatin is the favorite, but I'm just saying that Walton is the only team that can beat them. Or has the best chance. That's all I am saying. I guess they looked good against Carroll.

Come tourny time I won't count anyone out but it should be the Walton and Gallatin Co. game that decides who goes to Richmond.

 

If this game does get played it will be in the second round, not in the finals.

 

The winner of the upper bracket could very well be facing a Carroll Co. team that will have seasoned.
