Paducah Tilghman Job???

Featured Replies

Used to be regarded as one of the honey holes of the state talent wise. What are your thoughts on getting a new coach?

Anyone on staff ready to take over?

No program benefitted more from the move to six classes than Tilghman. The potential to contend for a state title in 3A every year is there.

Randy Wyatt, a former track and football star at Tilghman, might be a candidate. He was on Thomas' staff for several years, but stepped down a couple of years ago. He is Tilghman's boys' track coach and has led the team to six consecutive state championships.

Don't be surprised if Lone Oak coach Jack Haskins' name gets thrown around for the job. Haskins spent several years there as an assistant and his son, Billy Jack, won the Mr. Football award as a senior at Tilghman.

I wonder if Paul Leahy may come out of retirement...What about Brad Lawson? Would either of these be considered?

Just some thoughts...

Jack Haskins

Mike Rogers

Scott Shelton

Mike Lawson

Who are these guys?

Rogers is the coach at Graves County and Shelton is the coach at Marshall County.

What happened here, retirement?

What about Marty Jaggers (Mercer Co) ?
Jaggers interviewed for the Tilghman job back in the 90s, when he was an assistant at Danville.

I don't see Rogers and Shelton in the mix. I doubt Lawson would leave Central Hardin after just one year for Tilghman, given that he has family in Meade County.

I would say Haskins is the favorite. I suspect there will be a push from some in the community to hire him, given his history there and success throughout his career.

Wow, this is a very interesting turn of events, I think that Tilghman is losing a great coach and this poses a great opportunity for someone out there. I too doubt that Rogers or Shelton would want the job with what they have going at Graves and Marshall. I kinda wonder if Haskins would either with the success he has had at Lone Oak and with some of the talent that I heard he has coming up there. Should be interesting in the coming months to see who fills this position.

If Haskins stays at Lone Oak, he should put up some big numbers over the next few years. There is some good young players coming up thru the program. The middle school program was pretty strong this year.

This is another spot where I would like to see Jeff Carlburg get a chance ...good coach and good guy. He has a winning track record working with the defense at Lex Cath.

He can bring some of his under classman with him to Paducah & they can come & play for Lone Oak.

Nothing he's done at Apollo would set himself apart from other candidates.
