Jefferson County districts to be placed on one side of 6A playoff bracket?

Featured Replies

It's a possibility.

KHSAA official to recommend playoff change

Tackett said a format for the 6-A playoffs still is being discussed. One proposal would include placing all of the Jefferson County districts in one half of the bracket, assuring a team from outside of Louisville would reach the 6-A final each season. Another would involve rotating district matchups on a yearly basis, much like the process the past two years.

Didn't read the link but if they make the change it should not be limited to 6A and the quote makes it read like that.

I have no problem with rotating districts as that is how it is done in basketball.

Are the other sports, baseball, softball, volleyball, rotated or a blind draw come state tournament time?

But everything I hear is that this is a Trinity and ST X issue. Those are the two teams people don't want to meet for the Title every year.

The KHSAA never ceases to amaze me.

AllTell can you bring up your "Standard post" that discusses how the KHSAA used to have all of Louisville in one side, but the non-Louisville schools complained, etc.?

How many times have X and Trinity met in the Finals? 10? 15?

Will we also go back to the "State At Large" champ getting rings, even if they are trounced by the Louisville representative in the final?

In the end, I think that they'll end up going with a rotating shedule, which means that 2/4 years Trinity and X will be on the same sides...something like that.

No, just 4 or 5.

Boone Co....folks may be happy about that.

No, just 4 or 5.

He knows.... :D

Let me point out that I don't follow football, so I don't know the answer to the following question.

How many of the years were X and Trinity on the same side of the bracket and couldn't meet in the finals? If there was 15, 20 years of being on opposite sides of the bracket, than the 4 or 5 is a good picture for your argument.

If there has only been 8-10 years of them being able to meet in the finals, it is a different view of the picture.

Just trying to get a handle on which picture I am looking at.

I'm not sure, but I have faith that someone from X or T will be able to shed light for us on your question?

LBBC...I'll have triple check this but I believe that prior to late 80's early 90's T/X couldn't meet in State Football game.
