Who knows with him?? He was at several of Corey Pelle's games last year and SHOULD have liked what he saw??

Also on another thread someone asked if it could be confirmed that he got a 23 on his ACT. I heard after Tuesday's game that this is true....

If man to man got him up 11 points, why switch to a porous defense that would allow 3-ball looks and a greater opportunity of getting offensive boards by the opposing team? Many coaches who "teach" the game well often stick with their man principles. While coaches question themselves all the time; this may be one case in which a zone defense might not be the best answer. In addition, a zone is just as vulnerable for a team, when the opposiiton is lightning quick and could penetrate the gaps. Although a zone will make three point shots more availabel....a zone doesn't necessarily make the other team shoot it from 30 feet. With Holmes being coaches extremely well (Henley) I'm positive he would have attacked and bludgeoned the zone to pieces just as easy as m2m. Both (Henley and Steiner) are top notch coaches.

The defense didn't really get them that early lead. It was the result of missed shots and really just stupid forced shots. The one thing about Holmes is that there isn't anyone on the team that has seen a shot they weren't will to take. A zone would have limited Holmes athletic advantage but just as nets said it can't be torn to shreds as well.

Holmes took some ill advised shots that didn't go in and SK made some three pointers in consecutive series that allowed them to get the lead. A zone would have made Holmes make the outside shot(they had no one to do this) because they did not have a player that did any penetrating the entire night. A zone would have allowed SK's starters a little breather and this would have given them a better chance of retaining the lead.

Slavey played the best out of the guards for SK. I think he had 9 on three early 3 pointers, but then he went cold as the game went on. Barnes is showing his inexperience, he had pretty bad game.

I agree. I think when SK gets Layne and Ponzer back they will be a totally different team.

When they come back you have two more offensive threats. Also, by having Ponzer run the 1 you can move Slavey to the 2 where he is more comfortable and doesn't have to handle bringing the ball up as much. This allows him to get more open shots. This team at full strength probably would've won the game.

True, but I still don't think having him guard Arrez would have made a huge difference in terms of his output.
