I dont necessarily think the Highlands crowd is down, I think its maybe the other way around. I dont want to be arrogant (I rarely use that word because I dont associate myself with it) but I do think the competition has had enough. Why go and watch HHS hang 40 or even 50 on teams year in and year out. The best visiting crowd this year next to CovCath was Lincoln Cty. After that I thought the crowds were sub par. If you doubled the HHS crowd every Friday night at home or away and I think you got a pretty nice split the pot.

I agree sweep, the crowd hasn't diminished, it's just gotten older. I believe that some are right about kids and their attachment to technology-video game systems, cell phones, I-Pods, etc. But what about the median age of the crowd? I bet you will find many parents, former parents, and former players up there, more so than in previous years to my knowledge. Then we also got some of the hard-hitters like boom and hudy's that go to away games in style and tailgate. How awesome is that to go to a football game that's 10 minutes away and find people tailgaiting? I love it. Never saw that before. I just think that there are more older fans for the Birds atleast than younger fans coming to games now. I went over and visited that Luxury seating in the Ed. Found. and it's unreal. I really like seeing games, even if a family member isn't playing(which is rare because I am the youngest of 6 and have lots of nephews and my cousins have lots of kids too). I would still go and sit up in the seats that members of my family have been sitting in since before I could even go to a game. It's tradition. Why not go to a football game. What is more real and pure than seeing high school Student-Athletes, playing for "the love of the game?"

Seems like a coach would go nuts trying to keep things straight.

 

FC's coach is awesome. He develops a great program with so many things against him. Not only do our kids go in and out of the program at any given time, but we also deal with the simple fact that all the kids have parents in and out of the country at any given time. Family dynamics are constantly changing for many of the FC kids. This team is amazing, and the coaching staff at Fort Campbell deserves recognition for making the most out of what they are handed. I believe a few of our coaches actually even played at FC. That would be no big deal at most schools, that is amazing at FC. Military families make the most of what they have and where they are at any given time. You really have no choice! Go Falcons!

Highlands is not alone in the smaller crowds. At the Cov Cath game in Park Hills this season, there were so many empty seats on the Home side that I felt bad for the Cov Cath players. At Louisville Central, there were more LC band members than home fans.

I am thankful for the Belfry faithful. They are always behind our boys and often outnumber the home team's crowd. That says alot about the Pond Creek Nation =]

I'd have to agree with this. Since no one wants to come into the Bird Cage and if you want strong competition you have to go to them, you have only the district games that are home games. I think the average number of home games for the birds the last 5 years has been maybe 4. I might be wrong.

NCC definately had more fans at the Desales game than Desales did. Always have a good turnout for their games. Not so much the srudents, but a lot of alumni seem to be always there.
