Total dominating effort from the defense. Marshall County ran a spread offense and the second play left the QB back there to throw out in the flat and Zack Kamber picks off the deflected pass to give the ball to the offense at the 15. Neal runs it in to start the blitzkreig as DJ Hall blocks a punt and returns an interception 85 yards for a TD. Sam Galbraith and James Carpenter also pick up turnovers plus more fumbles as St X defense completely shuts down MC. Only disappointing part was the Marshall radio crew bringing up the private versus public debate during the entire halftime. Good job Tigers!

Good luck..........with that concept..............as many have said on here......there is f'ball in Louisville and then there is f'ball in the rest of the state and thats just the way it is. You haven't seen anything until you will get a load of this team from Poplar Level...........keep basking in '01.....

 

Let me ask you a question. How many kids on the X team went to elementery school together ? How many kids on the X team grw up in the same neighborhood? How many kids on X even knew each other before putting on the pads at tryouts. I would say a small percent. X plays for it's school and it's school only. We have some athletes that would star on X's team, but they never considered transfering to a private school where tuition is more than most colleges. Meade has never went out of the county to try to find players in the Catholic and pop warner programs to help them win championships. Nor has our kids went elswhere to play where they know that they would have a better chance to win.

We at Meade do not put a million dollars a year in our football program, We keep the same uniforms until they are wore out and then we give them to the freshman.

There is one thing that we have that you can't hang in the rafters or put in a trophy case, and that is a FAMILY that loves us and has watched us grow since we were babies. We will know the kids who came through our program 30 years from now. Just look at our sideline and see the explayers lined up on the fence. We have something that we can hold on to for life. A Meade Co. home where the community loves us if we are 0-9 or 9-0 just the same. So ten years from now when you are trying to remember the names of the X players on the 07 team you will have to pull out an old program, in Meade county all you have to do is go next door or down the street.

You might want to check the coaching staff of St. X "family members" and coaches who have been a part of the program for umpteen years. You'll never know about the boys who skip college football curfew to watch Saint X versus Trinity. And you certainly have no clue about the sacrifices made by hundreds of young men who could start at most other schools yet resign themselves to special teams or no playing time at all...just to be a part of something special...and that does not refer to a championship trophy.

 

Saint X is about sacrifice for your family. When Meade County hears "we are Saint X" at a deafening level and plays against players that keep their mouths shut and return to the huddle after making a big play....the fans and players will realize that Saint X is no football factory where the green and gold "X" is just a sticker on a helmet.

 

I would like to see a close game, just for fun. I think it will be close. You must have confidence, luck and turnovers to beat St. X. With that being said, too much confidence after the Male win might send the Greenwave packing with a running clock. I doubt that will happen but it is entirely possible.

 

...Saint X overlooking Meade County...Not even a remote chance of that happening...

 

The greenwave will get the full attention of Saint X's Offense, Defense and Special teams.

I would be very, very surprised if St. X overlooked Meade. After '01, I would find it highly unlikly that the Tigers will not be ready to play....... Hosting a state semi-final on campus in the new stadium will be exciting.... Go Tigers.

Congrats to the Tigers, the defense got the Tigers rolling early forcing a couple of turnovers and Marshall County could not recover. The Marshall County facilities and fans were great. I too heard the radio crew blasting the private schools athletics, but I guess the halftime score had something to do with it.

 

I felt for the few Marshall County players that lingered on the field after the game, unfortunately it all comes to an end way to soon for everyone.

While I am proud of Meade's community support...you fail to realize the pride that goes into strapping it up for the green and gold......they are a unified family until death. I would be willing to bet most true X fans know the players a decade from now, or 2, or 3....heck I can even recite a ton of Xaverian knowledge from OUR perch atop the football world in KY (had to get a plug somewhere). On paper we should not even be in this game. Why can't every once in a while a special group of kids can't come together and get a little respect. There are many post on this web sight that says Loiuisville teams are just better. There are other post that have X and the Rocks already playing in two weeks I think that there are 3 programs in Louisville that are above the in state schools, St.X, Trinity, and Male . The rest of the Ville teams are like us,just trying to make it to the playoffs and then see what happens. We in Meade are not dumb, we know that we are supposed to lose next Friday, we have had a great season . There's just one problem, Our kids believe in each other and they believe that they can win this game. As an outsider I would say X will roll on to another state championship. But as an ex player and a proud parent of a player on the 01 team and of a player on this team I have got to believe in our kids if they believe in themselves. These game are not won in a bluegrass Preps forum, they are won by a bunch teenagers having the time of their lives. I am sorry if I affended anyone, there are several people who write about X on BP. I am one of the few who talks for the Greenwave. Our kids as yours read these post. They love to get on here and see that someone is writing about them. And backing them on this web site.

Jeb, you should give the pre-game speech to the Wave. Nothing more motivating than being the underdog and telling your team that your opponents have all these million dollar advantages that you don't need to win. Seriously, no one doubts your community's pride in its football team. I think's it's great when a community pours out its support for the home team. I understand this victory,like the one in 01, would cause an outpouring of love and support for this group of Green Wavers. But, I think you have a skewed impression that St.X is this "Family"-less monolith. We believe in Family too, ours is just a bit bigger. 98% of our players have been playing with or against each other in the CSAA flag and tackle league since third grade. Once bitter grade school rivals are now teammates. We too have loving grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles who have watched our boys play this game since they were little boys. Contrary to popular belief, not many of our fans will be coming to this game via an airplane. They'll drive over from "neighborhoods" like Hikes Point, J'town, Fern Creek, Okolona, Germantown, Camp Taylor and even a few from St. Matthews. Many will gather at local pubs like Check's, Old Hick and Tim Tam to eat, drink and talk about the game, games past, players now and players in the past. You might be surprised how similar our "families" really are.

 

As to the outcome of this game, our uniforms, facilites and the "millions" they cost won't make a single tackle, block or first down. Our players and coaches will be well prepared, and we expect your players and coaches to be prepared as well. My prediction is X 28 Meade 7.
