UFC Facts and Rumors

Couture already declined the Big Nog fight. He doesn't want it.

Whether he's 50-0 and rated #1 in the world has nothing to do with it. He is a legend in UFC and he's at the point in his career when he wants to be more selective in his fights.

Dana White said he had "big plans" for Rampage's next opponent. There isn't a single potential fight in the LHW division that fits that description...possibly Wanderlei Silva if he could KO Chuck in impressive fashion, but Dana made the quote over a week ago.

From Couture's perspective, Rampage is a higher profile opponent and fight. If he wins, he'll be the first man in UFC history to own belts in two weight classes at the same time. The fact that he wants to fight Fedor so bad shows that he's not interested in "normal" fights.

I have no problem with Couture being more selective with his fights. He's been around a long time and he's one of the key guys that has helped build UFC's success. He's what, 44 years old. He's got himself in a position, by winning the UFC HW title, to warrant some marquee fights. It's now or never for him if he wants to land some huge fights. I'm sorry, but Couture vs. Big Nog is nowhere near as intriguing as Couture vs. Rampage.

I still do not think Couture should be treating the UFC like he is. They did not have to bring him back and give him an automatic title shot for the heavyweight belt. He had just lost two times to Chuck by KO, there was no reason for him to get an automatic shot, but Dana gave it to him. He should fight who they put in front of him and finish out his contract, that's why he signed it.

I'm glad you added your opinion on that one, because the only man you could possibly put in front of him right now in the heavyweight division would be Fedor and he hasn't fought in 200 years. Arlovski??? Please say you're joking about that.

I'm saying Randy is not unbeatable. I didn't say Arlovski should be the #1 contender, but rather that he is capable of beating Randy. Couture is not unbeatable is all I'm saying. If they set him up to fight Rampage, I'll be happy because I think it would be a good fight. I think Rampage could...would beat him though...

I would think anyone could be dominated if they got kicked in the gonads several times in a row.

I don't think he actually got kicked in the "gonads" several times in a row. The last couple looked to be right on the thigh IMO.

Just having a little fun...I understand that a guy can't fight with a herniated disk.

However, fair or not, I think when guys get injured it does cast them in a negative light to some degree. It's like that in any sport...it's not a good thing if you get that "injury prone" tag.

Injury prone? He got injured once and has to sit out one fight. Didn't Georges St. Pierre have to pull out of a fight once as well?

They didn't have to give him a title shot, but they knew if they were going to have people pay money to watch a fight in the heavyweight division, they had better give him a title shot.

I'm sure you said the same thing about Sylvia, Gonzo, Ortiz, and nearly every other fight he's been in.

I actually heard the nutcracker theme every time he landed a kick.

Sure, he's either fragile, he doesn't know how to train, or he fears the Hughes.

Wow!

Injury prone? He got injured once and has to sit out one fight. Didn't Georges St. Pierre have to pull out of a fight once as well?

TWICE

And Chuck (X2), and Ricco Rodriguez and Josh Barnett too.

No, I don't pick Randy to lose every time. I thought he'd lose to Sylvia because I thought Sylvia would lean on him and tire him out, but Randy obviously was prepared for that fight. I did think he'd beat Gonzaga and Ortiz.

The War Machine fight was intense. So far, the fights have been very good tonight.

I enjoyed the fights more tonight than I did all of the last PPV, which I paid for. :irked:

Dana announced after the show tonight that Forest is going to be a coach on the next TUF. He is announcing the other coach tomorrow at the Video Game Awards on Spike. I'll be shocked if its not Rampage.

Great night of fights. War Machine vs Rollins was a fun one to watch as was Huerta vs Guida. Fight of the year for Huerta/Guida? I think it should be in the running, it was great!

I'll also be shocked if Rampage isn't the other coach for the next TUF.

I said it's not a good thing for a guy to get the injury prone tag. I didn't say Serra had that label. Don't read too much into what I said...
