Cro Cop would beat Gonzaga Liddell would beat Rampage GSP would beat Serra Jardine would beat Alexander Liddell would beat Jardine Shogun would beat Griffin Cro Cop would beat Kongo Now, out of those fighters...I would still rank Shogun above Griffin, Liddell above Jardine, GSP above Serra.... I just have to see it more than once. That's all. If Serra can beat the winner of this fight, especially if it's GSP again, then I wouldn't question him. Until he proves it wasn't a fluke, I'm not sold on him. I think St. Pierre will beat Hughes. IMO, St. Pierre should be the Welterweight equivalent of what Anderson Silva is in the Middleweight Division. Unstoppable. In any case, I'm happy. I'd rather see Hughes/GSP and that's what I'm getting...after watching Chuck and Wanderlei (finally). Who knows if all of them hit him in the groin? I'm certain at least one of them did, and if the other two didn't, they were darn close...suppose you're in a fight and you get drilled there and then have two others that just miss. Think it might play in your mind a little bit? I think St. Pierre should be the man in that division and he should beat Hughes...but I'd like to see him do it with no possible excuses. I'm just sayin'... I'm not arguing that Serra is a better fighter than anyone. I'm saying he's THE CHAMPION and he earned it. He could beat anyone in the welterweight division on any given night. November 29, 200718 yr Author The Silva and Liddell fight is a little too late. Both guys have been losing lately and this would've definitely been a better fight 2 years ago. Silva has lost to Cro Cop (when he was on a roll) and Dan Henderson. I'm not sure I'd write him off because of losses to those two guys. Liddell's loss to Jardine was pretty sorry. If he gets knocked out by The Axe Murderer, he's gonna be way down the ladder.

I just think it's a much bigger adjustment for these PRIDE guys moving to UFC...the crowd and atmosphere is completely different, not to mention the rules and fighting in a cage instead of a ring. I've heard many fighters say that you have to be able to stay composed and breathe right, or you'll gas out early in the fight no matter how well you trained. I think it's possible Shogun was a little overwhelmed. Rampage's first performance against Eastman wasn't that great and he said after the fight that he was nervous...that there was a lot of pressure being in the UFC.

I think he's got a shot vs. Silva, but I don't know if he'll win. It should be a good fight. The Jardine loss was probably the worst of his career, I'd guess. Letting Jardine kick him in the leg and body without even trying to defend was the worst thing to me...it's like he had no game plan other than trying to land one big right hand. I think once Jardine realized he could take a punch from Chuck without being put to sleep, he started gaining confidence...and then, once he caught Chuck and almost put him out, it was all over. Everything about Jardine completely changed...he looked comfortable, confident, relaxed, etc, and Liddell looked frustrated and lost. I think he has a chance against Silva. Chuck has a chance against almost anyone because of his great punching power...I just hope Wandy fights with that same reckless abandon that he used to. I want to see him come right after Chuck and get in his face...one way or another, the fight should end in the first round. Whether Silva overwhelms him, or Chuck catches him with a counter punch. It's a very interesting matchup...and, to be honest, I'm just as excited to see it now as I would have been before. It's just one of those fights I've always wanted to see...the fact that both guys are coming off 2 losses in a row, might actually make it better, because both are in a desperate situation. I think Chuck needs this one worse though...Wandy lost to the good Cro Cop and Hendo, he hasn't fought in 10 months and he's making his return to UFC after a long time away...a loss by him could be overlooked or excused easier, IMO.

Tommy and Mac...the only two guys Hughes got in the tourny. How do you think Serra is feeling about all that smack talk now? :lol: I'm sorry...but I absolutely love it. It was just too perfect...Mac wins with relative ease, as expected... ...but, Tommy. Jorge was THE GUY...everyone talked about how great he was all season. Tommy hadn't finished either of his first two fights and he'd been caught in submissions in both, but was able to power his way out...that wouldn't happen against Jorge. He was too good. He was going to outclass Tommy (Serra's own words). What happens? Tommy catches him with a big right and drops him and then finishes him a few seconds later on the mat...he was out cold. When he woke up, he asked, "What happened?" :lol: Just too good...so after all the trash talk and gloating, the only two guys from Team Hughes to win preliminary fights will be squaring off for the title of Ultimate Fighter. :sssh: And, Matt Serra will get to watch. He spent the whole season of TUF trying to convince anyone who would listen that Hughes was an arrogant jerk. It's only natural that some people believe it.
December 6, 200718 yr I'm with 5 wide on this one, I can't stand Serra. I was extremely happy with the results of both semifinal matches. Serra got exactly what he wanted to do to Hughes, he has to stand around for the end with nothing really to do.
