December 6, 200718 yr Author No I'm not happy for Matt Hughes. At one point in the show HE WANTED TO QUIT! But, he didn't. He was just voicing some frustration. He isn't the one who refused to corner his fighters...who was that again? And, remind me again who's fighting December 29? I prefer judging by actions rather than words. Serra has the talking part mastered, but when it comes to the action...well...it "speaks" for itself. :sssh:
December 6, 200718 yr Author It didn't help Serra that Matt Arroryo is a sissy... Just following his leader/coach...
December 6, 200718 yr There are plenty of options for Randy at HW. Big Nog being the first. Considering that most Randy Couture fans, UFC, have no idea who Big Nog is. There's no one left for him to fight in the heavyweight division minus Fedor. Jackson is his only option now.

I understood everything you said except that statement.
December 7, 200718 yr Are you saying because Serra is out for the fight on the 29th that somehow puts him in a negative light? I understood everything you said except that statement. Sure, he's either fragile, he doesn't know how to train, or he fears the Hughes.
December 7, 200718 yr Just following his leader/coach... Serra was ruled out by Doctors...Matt Arroyo (sp?) was not.
December 7, 200718 yr Serra was ruled out by Doctors...Matt Arroyo (sp?) was not. Do you think that might have anything to do with Serra being world champ?
December 7, 200718 yr Sure, he's either fragile, he doesn't know how to train, or he fears the Hughes. Are you serious? Do you think this every time a fighter gets injured before a fight? I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but Mixed Martial Arts can be brutal on your body. Someone who trains too carefully will not train hard enough for a fight. That means by training hard you risk getting injured. I'm not even sure he was doing something really difficult in training, I think he just moved the wrong way and injured his back. There's nothing he could do about that. He fears Hughes?  Serra just KO'd the guy who DOMINATED Hughes.
December 7, 200718 yr Do you think that might have anything to do with Serra being world champ? No, I think that might have to do with Serra being injured too seriously to fight.

Jackson is his only option now. Jackson is not his only option. He acts like Fedor is the last big thing he can do, well I believe that is horse crap. He's what 14-7 overall? He acts like he's 50-0 and can not be beat. Big Nog is a VERY good fighter who could beat Randy. Arlovski could beat Randy. Would they? I don't know. I think Randy is a great fighter, he's one of my favorites, but he is not the #1 fighter in the world IMO.

I'm glad you added your opinion on that one, because the only man you could possibly put in front of him right now in the heavyweight division would be Fedor and he hasn't fought in 200 years. Arlovski??? Please say you're joking about that.

December 7, 200718 yr Author Are you saying because Serra is out for the fight on the 29th that somehow puts him in a negative light? I understood everything you said except that statement. Just having a little fun...I understand that a guy can't fight with a herniated disk. However, fair or not, I think when guys get injured it does cast them in a negative light to some degree. It's like that in any sport...it's not a good thing if you get that "injury prone" tag.

I think Randy is a great fighter, he's one of my favorites, but he is not the #1 fighter in the world IMO. Couture already declined the Big Nog fight. He doesn't want it. Whether he's 50-0 and rated #1 in the world has nothing to do with it. He is a legend in UFC and he's at the point in his career when he wants to be more selective in his fights. Dana White said he had "big plans" for Rampage's next opponent. There isn't a single potential fight in the LHW division that fits that description...possibly Wanderlei Silva if he could KO Chuck in impressive fashion, but Dana made the quote over a week ago. From Couture's perspective, Rampage is a higher profile opponent and fight. If he wins, he'll be the first man in UFC history to own belts in two weight classes at the same time. The fact that he wants to fight Fedor so bad shows that he's not interested in "normal" fights. I have no problem with Couture being more selective with his fights. He's been around a long time and he's one of the key guys that has helped build UFC's success. He's what, 44 years old. He's got himself in a position, by winning the UFC HW title, to warrant some marquee fights. It's now or never for him if he wants to land some huge fights. I'm sorry, but Couture vs. Big Nog is nowhere near as intriguing as Couture vs. Rampage.
