Oh man. The Lit is a computer rating. The Litkenhous Ratings compare Kentucky high school teams based on a computer-produced analysis of the scores of all sanctioned games involving state teams. Games against out-of-state schools are not included. It has nothing to do with Jody Demling or Jason Frakes, "The Trinity Homer". Betty Winston Baye has as much of an impact on the ratings as they do. Speaking of the Trinity Homer, have you seen his ratings? I'm guessing you haven't, so let me help you out:

Moreover, have you seen the Trinity Homer's predictions for the state finals? Once again, I'm going to go out on a limb and say no. Guess what, he predicts...

MaxPreps has T at #54 in the country and St. X as #3. Interestingly enough, St. X is also #1. In the USA Today poll, St. X moved up to #21. Massey has T at #210 and X at #140.

Do you think the Lit ratings are determined by turning on the computer "on" switch??? All of the data is manually input. Im sure there is a way in which one can continually input data to keep PRP in the top ~20.... Even with their record. So yes, in the spirit of selling newspapers, I feel it is highly likely that the data can be minipulated such to lower or raise a team with the shield of "computer ranking" etc... Does it really matter, NO. Its just a comment. Any by the way, the LIT rankings are fairly close to reality except of a few instances. Having said that, why doesn't the CJ describe on paper what the formula is for the LIT ranking...... In reality, it cant be that complicated. It was developed many years ago (~50...). Its just another pole, which has lost a lot of credibility of late. No big deal. I imagine after this week, JD and JF will be in the full swing of the Rock push..... Its all fine with me, just dont try to say that it doesn't exist.

Ratings mean nothing. It's championships that matter. It cannot be spun any other way. End of story.

Maxpreps has Highlands at 86 and BG at 150.

How can the Lit Ratings be used as a motivational tool if they are so inherently inaccurate and completely bogus, as has been suggested? On the one hand, you fire up your team with them while on the other, you say they don't mean anything. By the way, if a coach, any coach, has to use these computer ratings for motivation, then he should be looking for another line of work.

The Lit Ratings could swing in favor of St.X next week! I have never valued this ranking system. In my mind, X is #1!! They beat us fare and square! Hopefully we will get a chance to reverse that, providing we take care of business on Friday and the following week. GO Rocks #18.

I see it as a disrespect to Manual, in that St. X's convincing win over Manual results in a drop in the polls for St. X. Whereas Trinity's win over Ballard elevates the Rocks.:confused:

Thanks. No disrespect to any of the 4 ranked Kentucky teams, but I find it hard to believe that our little Commonwealth has four of the top 150 teams in the nation.

I have spent a little time reviewing old Litratings and have found them to be pretty accurate overall, particularly as it gets later in the season.

Regarding Jody Demling, a Trinity grad, he called them as he saw them. In my opinion he often saw them accurately.

I think that teams that take out the first string early or teams that regularly take a knee at the end of a game can hurt their computer rating.

X's computer ratings may have suffered in recent weeks since Deuce was out. (Example: Cov Cath game).

Riverside 157, I used to caution Trinity backers that nobody was out to get them when they occasionally engaged in flights of paranoia. Likewise, Demling, Frakes and computer ratings are not out to get X. Most reasonable people like and admire X.

Ratings are of little consequence overall. I would be surprised if the Lit ratings are posted in the locker room.

JD is a strong supporter of Trinity, this is no secret. His under study, JF, is picking up where JD left off. This will be a great point of motivation for the Tigers. Haven beaten everyone, convincingly, and ranked number 2. Come on CJ, you lost all of what credability you had left.....

 

 

JD calls it like he sees it. He is a friend of mine and I promise it doesn't matter what ties he has.

Actually, it would not be a statistical aberration. And, most reasonable posters would agree that X, T and BG are relatively comparable. (I do not know Highlands, but T and BG were close in their contest and X and Trinity were reasonably close). T played Cinn. X close and Cinn. X is rated as high as 2nd nationally. At a minimum, an argument could be made....
