I never said that because they were poor that they have the right to break the law...and I never bashed our government for this. However, I have every right to disagree with my government's policies if I choose.

 

I pointed out that the argument "let them come legally" does not work for those that our poor. The process does not work for them. I am tired of hearing that. If this is what you (not just RTS) want, then we need to realize that we would not be helping the poor this way.

 

The only way that I would say that they are our responsibility is if we wish to portray ourselves as a caring, compassionate people. Then it is our responsibility to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Other than that, we shouldn't care at all.

The ONE idea that I have agreed with GWB on during his whole 8 years was his guest worker idea. I was so disappointed when the GOP shot him down on that one. I thought that there would be some common ground, but alas...

I don't know about it being "God's plan" or not. Whose to say it isn't? However I am Arminian enough to believe that God is a great presenter of "opportunities." You know, if you try to see how good can come out of bad situations - it's amazing what good things can happen.
