Sorry but I have no affiliation with Ashland. I was speaking of my Devils. Again I would love for my Devils to have moved up and played in this area 4A district. There is none of those teams that are on the same level as Mason.

 

Although it would have probably hurt them come playoff time. You only get better by playing better teams. Thank goodness for the addition of Simon Kenton, Mason, Lawrence and Raceland to replace Estill, Powell and Morgan. They are a step up in competition.

Sure you got the #2 seed in the district, but in a district who's best team has a 2-6 record, is that really an accomplishment. Ashland was placed in a much tougher district, so its understandable that they didnt make the playoffs, but they did beat the 2 top teams in this district which says what many people already knew about Class 4A District 8.

Suits me just fine to be playing with the "big boys". We may not have competed as well this year as we would have liked but it isn't because we can't compete at their level. We were just down this year and not as athletic as we have been in the past. It is what it is and we will go back to work and see if we can get better.

I dont know what your definition of better is. I know Ashland has been pretty bad this year, but Greenup has been pathetic for years and years and years. Im not trying to be mean, thats not my style. I was not complaining about the realignment at all, just trying to make an observation. Ashland will obviously benefit from this season in the near future. Many underclassmen got valuable PT and that will pay dividends, with a majority of returning starters on BOTH sides of the ball, as well as a JV, freshman, and middle school teams that have all had fantastic seasons. The current 2-5 record for GC has been the norm for years now, and playing weak competition like Boyd and Lawrence really provides no incentive for improvement. Just my opinion....

As an Ashland fan I dont like people complaining about us being moved up to a different class. We have more kids to choose from. Raceland beat us and look how small their school is and as the saying goes " size dont matter". Beechwood is 1a and look at them year in and out and Belfry so come on these are all smaller schools that probably would of beat us the past 5 years.

Well I dont know what to tell ya then. Other teams had to move up this year as well. I dont think the state was trying to pick on Ashland. JC had to move up and they seem to be doing fine.

 

I guess we should all feel bad for Ashland and let them come down and play 4A because they didnt have the type of season they are accustom to having. I guess the next time Trinity loses a few games we should move them down a few classes as well. Whatever it takes to keep teams and fans happy I suppose.

 

Ashland fought hard every game and lost a few close ones. The only thing to do is to keep their heads up and start preparing for next year. Rules are rules and you have to play in the class that you are assigned to. Don't make a horrible season seem worse by complaining about playing within a class that you are supposed to be playing in.
