How do you think Petrino would have done at UofL this year?

Watching the Falcons who are absoloutly horrible, I starting thinking about how Petrino has to feel right now. I then thought about what a rocky season Louisville has had. It made me wonder how Bobby might have done with UofL this year. What do you think?

They still lost so much on defense that they were going to struggle early with all the inexperience on that side of the ball. But, as productive as the offense as been and as good as Brohm has performed, it might have been even better, helping them pull out a few of those tough losses. I think they would only have 1 or 2 losses, and I bet you that Syracuse would NOT have been one of them. But any new coach has an adjustment period. Coach K needs to be given a fair chance. Even though he did take over a program in much better shape than what Ole Blue took over at UK.

So the defense would have been that much better with Petrino here given all the losses due to graduation the Cards suffered from last year? I think their record would be better, ... much better, but I am not seeing undefeated. However, I could be wrong. Unfortunately, we will never know.

How is undefeated hard to see? I think the defense would have been a little but better and the offense would have won every game for us. Not to mention, a better offense really helps the defense out as well. Just wondering, who do you think we would have lost to?

I am biased, but I think UK would have beat them. However, I do think I am probably basing that on how the Cats played Saturday.

That's completely understandable and I don't blame you. Personally I think Petrino would have scored 10 or more additional points in all of the games this year and wouldn't have allowed as many on defense in any of the games so you can see where I'm coming from. Also, if P were here this year, I don't think LSU's offense is even close to UofL's. But these are all what ifs so it doesn't really matter. UK's getting the job done with what they have, UofL isn't, and I'm proud to be a fan of KY football all across the board.

I agree. There are not many offenses as good as UL's anywhere in the country. Give UK or UL the defense LSU has and you have an undefeated #1 team no matter which schedule you use IMHO.

I am glad to see the Cards starting to gain some momentum and hope they finish without another loss this season. It is good for football throughout the state.

IMO, the majority of the problems on defense have come from lack of focus and effort. The first five games, I'd say 90% of the big plays that were given up were because of blown coverages (based on the fact that I find it hard to believe that any D1 athlete can get beat that bad for a receiver to be as open as some of them were). If Petrino were still in town, I doubt there would be those focus and/or effort problems. JMO.
