Coulter over the line this time?

Featured Replies

It was not stupid. Politically incorrect but not stupid. She tried to make that point but he was having nothing of it.

Let me try.

Do you believe that if Jews do not accept Jesus Christ into their heart, they will not make it into Heaven? If you do, you are agreeing with what she said.

Accepting how?? there are 250 denominations of Christians so are they all going to heaven?? Are all beliefs the same?? What about baptism?? All Southern Baptist?? what about Presbyterian?? Catholics??

My point is that all Christians beliefs are not the same.

I believe that who makes it into heaven is not my call, but if I am fortunate enough to make it I expect to meet a lot of Jews, Muslims, Hindus and maybe even some Christians. ;)

If telling people that no man will come to the Father, but through the Son is politically incorrect then I am proud to say I am politically incorrect. And it sounds to me like Coulter thinks the same way.

Ronnie Deutsch tried to bait her and she stuck it in and broke it off. It made good TV for Ronnie, I know they don't care what she said.

See, if you offer the opinion that the Jews, by not accepting Christ for salvation, are not saved, you're anti-Semitic. That's the mantra. "Oh, have an opinion about my religion that I ask for? You're anti-semitic." The garbage here is Deutsch's, not Anne's, and I'm no Anne apologist.

If you are a Christian and you do not believe that it would be better if every single person out there followed Christ, then I think you need to examine if you're following the Book. What in the heck did Ronnie expect her to say?

Ditto!

The acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is. Thus, the name Christianity. Putting that into practice is the difference.

So you do not believe in what the Bible says? In fact, what Jesus says in that the ONLY way to the Father is through the Son?

If telling people that no man will come to the Father, but through the Son is politically incorrect then I am proud to say I am politically incorrect. And it sounds to me like Coulter thinks the same way.

Amen!!:thumb:

What he said. Read your Bible guys. Ever heard of Messianic Jews? The chosen 144,000?

The 144,000 is a matter of interpretation. Pre-Millenial Dispensationalists (i.e. Hal Lindsay, Tim Lahaye) would agree that the reference is of Jewish converts during the Tribulation.

Other views of Revelation and Eschatology would not hold that this text refers to only Jews or to a literal 144,000.

Sometimes the problem is not what you believe or say you believe, it can be how you share it. This seems to be the case in Ann Coulter's story.

There have only been 144,000 Jews?

The 144,000 are mentioned three times in the Book of Revelation:

  • Revelation 7:3-8 (ESV)

saying: "Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the servants of God on their foreheads." And I heard the number of the sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel: 12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
12,000 from the tribe of Asher,
12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali,
12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
12,000 from the tribe of Simeon,
12,000 from the tribe of Levi,
12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,
12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun,
12,000 from the tribe of Joseph,
12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.

  • Revelation 14:1 (ESV)

Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

  • Revelation 14:3-5 (ESV)

And they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. For it is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, 5 and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are blameless.
Sounds like a wonderful thread topic in it's own right. Would love to know 1) How you come to the point that the Jews are God's chosen people; 2) how the preservation and support of Israel is imperative for the US.

Deuteronomy 14:2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

Deut 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

Almost the entire Old Testament is dedicated to showing the lineage of Christ with emphasis on God's covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I found this article using Google that I think explains it pretty well. http://www.geocities.com/cobblestoneministries/The_Jews_are_Gods_Chosen_People.html

As for the second part of your question, that is more my own view than anything Biblical. It seems reasonable to me that if God's chosen people are the Jews, and if Biblical prophesy dwells on Israel being the land promised to the Jews, it behooves us to be on the correct side of any conflict.

The covenant you mention is NOT just for the nation of Israel.

Genesis 17

1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty [a] ; walk before me and be blameless. 2 I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers."

3 Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, 4 "As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. 5 No longer will you be called Abram ; your name will be Abraham, [c] for I have made you a father of many nations. 6 I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. 7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. 8

It seems to me that Paul spends sometime pointing out that a New Covenant has come and that is through Christ and not a nation of people.

To connect the ancient Israel of the OT and this one is a viable option and not so for others. Many would point to the church as the new Israel and not a nation state that began in 1948.

While I support Israel's struggle to remain a soverign nation, they are not above criticism or reproach. They have acted as badly as other nations at times in aggression and repression. I support them when I feel they are in the right and I am upset with them when I think they are overstepping their bounds.

What is truly ironic about this pseudo-controversy is that Coulter's position on the state of Israel is much more in line with those of most Israelis than the secularized American Jews who will claim the most offense over her comments.

Isn't it amazing how Coulter continues to get more free publicity from her liberal critics than conservative media outlets?

I think she pretends to be a good "Christian" but in reality she's a fake. Someone who says things like:

To a disabled Vietnam vet: “People like you caused us to lose that war.”

"If we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president. It’s kind of a pipe dream it’s a personal fantasy of mine, but I don’t think it’s going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women."

“My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building.”

“Not all Muslims may be terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims.”

“If those kids had been carrying guns they would have gunned down this one [child] gunman. … Don’t pray. Learn to use guns.”

Now I realize some of these quotes may be out of context, and some of you will defend her saying she's just doing it to "make money". She's a hypocrite. Preaching about perfecting someone who doesn't believe like her when she's got a lot of work to do in order to perfect herself.
