Ironicallyy, we were just out on the pier today. It's part of the tradition, even though we rarely catch anything.

The Dan Russell Pier is still about half it's original length. In fact, there is a part still standing, but it has a huge hole in it, and no railings; so it's condemned. The pier is scheduled to be demolished sometime in the next several weeks. It will be rebuilt and reopened in 2009. We're kind of bummed about that, because we won't be able to use it next year.

The shopping center has sprung up out of nowhere since we were here last year. They have many of the bbuilding structures up, as well as some of the facade work. Although the structures are more or less hollow, you can get a real sense of what the project will look like. Let me tell ya, it is HUGE!!

It sounds like they haven't done anything to the pier since that last storm. I guess we'll have to wait until '09 to make our trip back down there. I always enjoyed heading out to the pier, even though the pelicans look at you like they're going to attack at any minute.

We were last down there in September of '05, and they had all the land cleared for that shopping center. At the rate those new condos were going up, I figured that shopping center would go up quicker since they're much smaller buildings. We were simply amazed at how many new condos went up each year we went down there, so it comes to no surprise that the shopping center is almost done. Heck, I even thought it may have been completely done by now. It'll be nice for the folks on the west side of PCB, since there's nothing much down that way.

Just got through talking to BF. They are in Montgomery, Al and have ran into just a little rain. Oh by the way.....he brought the wayward crab leg home with him:lol:

I'm used to it.

Oh come on...you know your one of my favorite BGP friends...so quit being so crabby!!

So is BF traveling sideways back from Florida?

Now that's a good one!

My family and I are safe and sound in our old Kentucky home! THANK YOU GOD!

However, my brother and his girlfriend are still down there for a few more days. Of course, he had to rub it in that it was partly cloudy all day today. Although, he reports the seas are way up now and it's getting really windy. I think they'll be far enough to the east to be okay, but it's still a bit of a concern.

I'll post a picture of the (now infamous) crab leg right after I grab some much needed supper! :thumb:

^ So, where's the pic?

The crab must have eaten it:lol:

I am so happy that you all are back safe and sound.

Did you look on the top of your shoe for it?

I'm ashamed to admit, I actually looked.

How in the world could you have lost that?!

BTW, I like the new avatar. :thumb:
