Practice time vs. Game time

Featured Replies

Cvillecat that was a very good post, we were lucky to get a drink of water, and those two a days, seemed to last 4wks., but really 2wks. It is a wonder no one had heat exhaustion, but I think we were in better shape back then than now, don't remember that many leg cramps either. Is your son still at Cville college?

Are you saving a spot? You no you love our tailgates.:D

As a loyal CCH supporter, I do not partake in any festivities involving cars in a parking lot with food and beverages. I take my seat in an orderly fashion thank you very much.

In varsity sports, as long as the players make the necessary grades to remain eligible, maintain their personal conduct to team rules and have an excused reason for missing practice, the best players should be on the field.

Period.

Ok I'll maybe believe the not partaking but I will never believe you take your seat in an orderly fashion.

You should stop by, I'll have that HHS t-shirt you were asking for...

And yet somehow we survived. Legitimate injuries are one thing, faking it to get out of practice is another. I know that my team had a rule like this and I made darn sure I didn't miss practice. It only took missing the start of one game. I don't think they kept me out for the whole thing but to be honest, missing one play would have probably been enough for me.:D

I think that is where he was going with it. I have seen it happen in many levels. If you don't practice because of faking it, then you don't play. With most teams having professional trainers, they know who's faking or not. And I'm sure the word gets passed around. But then again, "who" you are and what "contributions" were given on behalf of you and your family might have something to do with it too!

This limiting contact doesn't fly in high school. You have too many players that aren't fundamentally sound in blocking and tackling, and the only way to teach it is full speed. On the college level I could see it because if a player is good enough to deserve a scholarship I would think he's been coached well in high school. Coaches have standards and if you have a legitament excuse playing time is not affected.
