It is hard to leave the Mercer championship out of this thread. The thing is no matter how anyone tries to spin it, even if it was the KHSAA's fault--and it was. Mercer won the 2A title playing with a 3A team. No one except the Mercer faithful will ever accept it as a rightful title and they shouldn't. Mercer had an unfair advantage and they should have won the title without any problem at all. However, the KHSAA decided that Mercer should get to compete for a championship that they were to big for. We should all just suck it up and agree that numbers don't mean anything and it was okay for Mercer to be 3A and play 2A. So they should in fact be the 2 1/2 A Champs from last year. Of course we'll get to see how they do playing schools their own size this year---so far they are 0-1.

They beat several last year!

I say Mercer rebounds after a tough week of practice and nabs the win 28-14

Good call. You have to remember though, Usedup, on here, with some it's a double standard and there is always some excuse for why Mercer won they won against smaller schools, equal sized and even those schools that were bigger. :jump:

For example, South Laurel (bigger), but there was the fact thrown out by some that they weren't good competition last year. Then you have Boyle County(within 100 students of Mercer) that Mercer beat, but they went 6-6 and lost 5 of their games to teams that finished a combined 47-3 in the regular seaon, people seem to forget that. They also beat LaRue County (within 100 of Mercer and current 4A), who had only one loss toa VERY SPEEDY Louisville Western (new 4A) prior to their game w/ Mercer. Beating all 3 by a combined 146-33, while rushing for over 1,200 yards in those 3 games, too.

I told myself I wasnt going to revert to last year anymore, my fault!! I couldnt resist!:jump:

You might want to do some research, Watertown Tn. is 3-0. Sorry to get off the game but I had too.

Just going by what I've heard from some of the parents and one coach... that going to Watertown and playing them will be like playing Burgin (sorry, no disrespect to Burgin...they don't even have a team). 3-0 means nothing to me. Who knows what caliber of teams they have played??

From reading some of the other threads involving Mercer fans, it appears that there are some problems between parents and coaches that may be adversely affecting the kids. I hope that those problems can be resolved so the kids can have a good year. That being said, I think this animosity is filtering down to the kids and I think that Pulaski with the home field advantage will win a close one.

I'm a Russell mom and I wish for nothing but the best for both teams this year.

Don't be suprise if Pulaski Co. wins this one, they are a up and coming football team that going to suprise some folks this season. So look out. PC in a mild upset.

If Pulaski County beats Mercer it will be considered much more than a mild upset.

I dont think it would be that great of an upset. Let me tell you why. Mercer lost around 22 seniors if i am correct. The kids that are juniors and sophomores on these two teams played each other in middle school with Pulasi beating Mercer and Harrodsburg both by rather large margins. I know when you combine the two it makes them stronger, but the group of kids pulaski has right now are strong minded as well as athletic. Pulaski wins this game because they are better.:argue:

I am looking forward to the game. Should be the game of the week in southern Kentucky. I have the choice of driving to Lincoln Co. to watch the Warriors, or driving to Somerset to watch the Jumpers or Maroons. The Jumpers should win with a running clock so that game is out. I watched the warriors beat S. Laurel last weekend, so it is time to watch the much improved Maroons. I have heard good things about Muse, Hines, and the rest of the young Maroons. Good luck to all 3 local teams.

I am not a Mercer faithful by any means, but I accept them as state champs from last year. They won it, it is in the books, any whining now is just sour grapes. They lost a TON of talent from last year's team which would be one of the top 5A teams this year if everyone was back. But they are not, ... however, they will be hungry after tasting defeat and while PC is obviously improved (great job by Coach Hines), ... Mercer will pull this one out.

I read last week in the big Harrodsburg Herald that Burgin used to have a team, many years ago, even won a state championship? :D

Defense will continue to be strong Mercer 14-7 Pulaski

Are they on different time zone than Mercer?

I'm seeing it and hearing it for myself in the stands...however it is mostly a loud mouthed minority, as is usually the case.

As a the parent of a graduated player I would like to advise the very few loud, obnoxious, parents who spend their time in the stands screaming at coaches and screaming at kids other than their own to.....:

Support your team (not your kid)

Support your program (make sure you are not responsible for 90% of the work being done by 10% of the people)

Support your coaches (Do you honestly think Coach got his State Rings by caving in to whining parents? Get over yourself! The only big mystery to anyone is why he gives parents like you the...time....of.....day!)

Yep! Saw that article too. I suppose my comparison wasn't the best in the world, but you get the point.:D I'd have to agree with you score prediction...if Mercer does win, it'll be close.

Amen, Joe. You and me have seen alot at Mercer, and this very small group of parents, are the worst and most embrassing:cool: , that I have seen ( and believe me I have seen my share). I hope the singling out of kids stops.
