You're right, I'm an alum and denying it. They are D1. I-AA in football, which NCAA considers "D1".

There is no such thing as D1 AA anymore. You're either D1 FBS or D1 FCS.

nice to know info, thanks...

Seeing Clay Stephens make a play on punt coverage in the Swamp made this old Maroon's day last Saturday. We're all proud of you Clay!

Hey' date=' I thought we were a basketball state! I wonder what the basketball list would look like for D-1 players?[/quote']

I am sorry Ram, but I think this is an excellent point that many athletes that feel like they should only play one sport should look at.

I am sorry Ram, but I think this is an excellent point that many athletes that feel like they should only play one sport should look at.

What?

What?

That was poorly written. I was just talking about earlier in the page when a comment was made that maybe the next time someone says we are a basketball state, they should look at how many scholarship athletes we have playing football vs. basketball. The lord knows that I would like the kids at my school to take a closer at that stat.:thumb:

Makes me swell with pride.

Nice job with the list!

I agree nice job! :thumb:

Both Cody Nissen (Trinity High School) and Drew Cecil (Forth Thomas Highlands) currently play on the sprint football team at Navy. While it isnt D-1 football it is considered a varisty sport at the school.

What about the Chaffin kid from Lynncamp and the kid a couple years ago from Bell County that went somewhere in Texas?

Here's the list of D-I championship subdivision players. Please note that there might be some inaccuracies regarding Morehead State players due to a lack of an updated roster posted on their website.

Thanks for the listings..........

One thing I've noticed on the D-1A list, only a handful of kids from eastern KY are on that lists. That's a complete shame too because I know there has been some very good football players come from eastern KY over the past years. I truely believe that the kids from eastern KY are not given the respect they deserve from people across the state. Most people in the middle of the state feel like if you don't come from central Ky then you can't be D1 material. It's just a complete shame too because it's the kids who are the ones that suffer because of the prejudice. I thought with the recent success of Russell and Johnson Central on a statewide level that it may have shown the state that eastern KY boys can play. But yet the scholarship still aren't coming to eastern KY. If that hasn't changed the outlook, I'm not sure what will.
