There are not many Raceland fans that have abandoned the program. Sure we occasionally have a down year, but not very often. Then its back to winning as normal.

In addition to back to back losses to East Carter' date=' a usual whipping boy on the Rams schedule...the Rams lost back to back to Greenup. Lost to Paintsville, were scored on at will by Lexington Christian (100+ I believe), had 51 and 58 hung on them in back to back season by arch-rival District Champion Fairview (that alone was unforgivable in RamLand! Remember the coaches quotes in the paper about how Fairview has outhustled, outplayed and yes "outrecruited") and then took their normal playoff poundings in Northern KY. [/quote']

Everyone has a good season every now and then. There are not many series' in the state that a team holds a record of 30-0 against another team. Sometimes East Carter has won, sometimes Greenup Co has won. LCA scored 72 against Raceland that year, not the eggsagerated 100+ you mentioned. And the phenomenal Fairview two seasons, well I will leave that alone.

I wonder at that point if the Rams were really looking to drop East so that they could add Ironton and/or Russell? Please! Quite honestly I think the natives were restless and they needed some wins!

Looking to play Russell and Ironton now...sure why not. But after the 03/04 years...I think not. But I could be wrong.

You don't understand what was going on at Raceland. Those two down years Raceland had 2 seniors on the team one year, and 4 seniors on the team the next year. The Raceland faithful knew that a very good team was coming in 2005, and it did, we knew that after those two years of taking those beatings, the freshmen and sophomores would be very good and experienced, which they were. Raceland normally has 15-20 players per class, we knew those two years would be rough, then back to normal. So to make a long story longer, yes we were looking to strengthen the schedule.

Anyway, I think Raceland will win vs. East. I think that the East defense will be on the field a lot as the Raiders search for some offensive punch. Holding a team out of the end zone gets very frustrating after a while with no hope for points on the board.

 

Coach Maynard's defense is what has made the difference in the Ram Revival and his unit will not let the boys from Carter County get untracked this week.

I think the Rams respect every team they play. I also think the coaches do not take anything forgranted. OldRambler puts it so well one game at a time. Any team can go out there and have the game of their life. For the last couple of years the kids have bought into what the coaches are teaching and they are excited about every Friday night. I am sure East is also. The coaching staff has not only built an outstanding program at Raceland but men like TJ Maynard has done one better. Taken absolutely nothing away from our coaching staff but he has taken a chance on boys that didnt start as freshmen or sophmores and gave them confidence to excell. TJ can take a child and help form his playing ability to make them all area and district players. I have seen it done. Look at last year with the defensive line.

My last comment is after watchng our offense this year the improvement is obvious Boyles has a real connection with his offense and I just see a great year for the Rams.

I also understand that the Russell/Ironton series will be back in 2009. So, if Ironton plays Ashland and Russell, I doubt they will add a third Kentucky team in Raceland.

I make no prediction on any of Raceland's games but after reading some of those comments they may just be posted in the Rams locker room .

And I am a Raider fan. It is hard on a team to expect their senior Qb to leave a offense he has been in for 3 years and try something new. Coach B. should have left the majority of Damrons offense intact and slowly incorporated his in over the next two years.

Raceland was going to drop East Carter, but continue to play Ashland, Greenup Co, and add Russell - OK. Perhaps they were not going to drop East Carter at all, or maybe they were going to drop East Carter to play someone else, like Russell. But to just say that Raceland was going to drop East Carter because East was going to dominate a series that Raceland leads something like 35-5 in ludicrous.

Apparently everyone in the Raceland/Worthington area has a bluegrasspreps account. Surely it isn't bulletin board material, considering most who post have no affiliation with the above mentioned programs, at least I would hope they don't. I have noticed that when Raceland is winning in any sport there are lots of Ram fans on here. I also noticed that when they lose (ex: East Carter in baseball the last few years) there is very little mention of the game. In fact they turn to the JV game that they won to have something to discuss. That being said I believe Raceland will win this game, but i am afraid it might be the same old story come playoff time.........NKY and done! I hope I am wrong.

Raceland will not see NKY, until the championship game, if they make it that far.:banana: With the new alignment, D5 (Raceland) will be playing D8 (Pikeville).

 

As for other sports, I normally only post in Football, I will congratulate teams on wins in other sports, but I really only get interested in football.

The playoff opponets / districts have changed this year. Raceland will not play NKY untill the State Finals if they get that far. Someone can correct me if this is wrong.

 

I also have noticed a lot more Raceland fans on here but I contrary to your belief/assesmant I have also noticed that a lot of us have posted when losing a game as well. Giving credit to the opponets and not getting into a gripe contest on the reasons or maing excuses. Should we lose we aknowledge it, give congrats to the opponet and go on. Raceland football has long standing tradition, we have certainly had down years as well and have always rebounded from them. Last season was very good - this season imo will be a good one and next season is shaping up to maybe be better than ever. I don't know. We have an awfully young team this season.

Plus, a lot of Ram fans just opened BGP accounts, so that is why there are more Raceland people posting now. And many of the Raceland fans are bilingual (root for Raceland and another team), that is why many more post on Raceland football.
