Coal Grove, OH 28 Lawrence County 20

Featured Replies

What individuals looked good for LC? How are they utilizing Fitzpatrick and Pack in the backfield? Who's their receivers? How many freshmen and sophomores do they have?

I haven't had the opportunity to see them this year because I've been working out of town.

Thanks.

If Lawrence County can come out and play with as much heart as they did in the 2nd half and play loose on offense then LCHS can very well beat Belfry. Not saying they will but it will give them a good chance.

These are similar to posts for dawgs from last year .... How does an intense coach and team start so slow ... Coal Grove was a must win , now Belfry is really a must win .... One good thing , Red Army really isn't pass oriented so will this dawg have it's day against pirates or will LCHS be on the way to mid season offense change again ?

Your negative posts about Lawrence County week after week make me want to puke! I can promise you Lawrence County doesn't need you looking down your nose each week about their program especially when you don't even go to the games there. I appreciate you trying to stir the pot but no thanks! If you were at the game you would know that Lawrence Co didn't start slow. They played great defense but gave up a lot of 3rd+4th and long plays. A fluke tipped pass killed them early. They moved the ball up and down the field but penalties etc hurt them. We shot ourselves in the foot to much the first half. The kids were flat out ready to play when we stepped on the field. They had the confidence and swagger we are looking for!

I can say with great pride that I'm so proud of our kids and to be a Bulldog! Kid after kid after kid went down and kid after kid after kid stepped up. A lot of teams would lay down being down 28 in the 4th quarter and half the players out at different times. This group instead never pointed a finger, never dropped a head but instead faught their guts out! Coty ran the heck out of the ball. Boone made big throw after big throw. Mark made two clutch throws, Timmy made a clutch catch and Acie busted his tail 50 yds down the field to spring his TD. Acie made clutch catch after clutch catch after clutch catch and Chandler threw a huge pass and caught a huge TD! They all did it behind about 9 different kids that stepped it up when they had to play on the Oline. We got the ball back time after time when we had too thanks to the defense stepping up when they had too. In the end we had the ball on the four yd line with a chance to play for the tie after marching 65 yds in less than 2 minutes. If you notice a theme there it wasn't one guy but A TON of team players stepping up when they had too. We played solid D, ran the ball at will and threw the ball all over the place. LC is playing several teams that have played on the carpet the last few years so it's going to be big challenges week in week out. In the end it's all to get prepared for the playoffs. If we stay healthy and fight the way we did tonight with the spirit we faught with then there is no doubt in my mind that our team will grow! I can't explain how proud I am for the guts they played with! It was also great to see such an awsome crowd back at the pound last night!

No offense, but Belfry is on a completely different level than Coal Grove.

BUT, the Dawgs always play Belfry tough and the Pirates will still be using running back by committee, so if LC can make some plays and get some fortunate breaks they will have a shot.

One thing that wont work on Belfry is the trick play. Trick plays are for teams that have no discipline on offense, you can have all the talent in world but trickness wont beat Belfry (see Pikeville), only way to beat Belfry is to beat them up front, see Russell last year.

But they traditionaly do play the Pirates tough, but congrats on the victory.

Very Well Said!! :thumb:

Keep up the good work stick1, alot of us know what LC is capable of and the rest will have to be shown what LC is all about this year.

Belfry is Belfry! 2 state titles recently. They have nothing but respect from me the way they play the game and I love the atmosphere their crowd brings. LC and Belfry have had some great games in the past and I hope we get another one next Friday.

Greast post - and by someone that obviously should know what he is talking about :thumb: . Good luck to LCHS.

Dont feel singled out...seems to be voicing comments on all teams other than his Devils after their big win against Greenup Co.

For everyone who didnt go to the game, let me fill you in a little bit, Lawrence County came out as ready as anybody could have, they made some big defensive plays but gave up a long 3rd down pass in the 1st quarter that led on to become a touchdown, but like anyone else that was there seen that this team didn't give up, they kept fighting no matter what. This was a very clean game except one guy for LC getting ejected late in the game, very hard hitting game. There was a onside kick for LC in front of the home stand, and the kid for Coal Grove bless his heart held on to the ball but got drilled and his helmet popped off. I'm glad to see hard hitting back at LC. Boone looked good at times, but other times the offense looked out of sink a little bit, but they did move the ball when they wanted to it seemed like. And whoever said trick plays wont work, well it depends on the defense and how focused they are on to stopping the run. Everyone there knew if LC had another 5 seconds we would all be congratulating LC on the win, or atleast taking it into overtime. Good job boys, wait to represent the red and black, wear it proud...

Some of you, need to discuss the game and take the personal comments, to the pm's.

Yes they do, enough said it was a great game, just wish we could have pulle it out, they wanted it so bad you could see it in their eyes.

These boys walked off that field with their heads held high. I can tell you that Coal Grove was glad to get out of there with the win. I think that LC gained a lot of respect Friday night. These boys will take this momentum into Belfry and IMO, play them tough enough to pull out a win. Especially if Belfry thinks that it will be a easy win.

I really thought L.C. would win this one after being told this in all likely hood was going to be a tough year for C.G.D.B. Plus I remember that C.G.D.B. does not or in the past has not covered the pass all that well being they do not see it much.

I'm glad to read that the dawgs never gave up and made this a game.

One game especially a game that is not a district game does not make a season.

Good luck in week two.

I watched Belfry in week one and they have a stud in that big rb of theirs plus May is a very sound player.
