I'm hoping this isn't going off course here but how does Sen. John Warner's new pronouncements apply to this discussion?

Is he a traitor because he calls for some troop withdrawls to begin? He is an outstanding Republican that has served the country for many years and is a Senior member of the Senate. Is Warner's suggestion (after an acutal visit in person to Iraq) paramount to some of the Dem's who call for a similar withdrawl?

I refuse to believe that ANY of our elected representatives actually WANT to see a bad result. Politics are ugly. They're not THAT ugly.

I wouldn't put it past any politician from either side of the aisle.

Anyone that in any way questions our great president or even thinks that it is possible that changes should be made, is a no-good traitor that deserves to spend the rest of their life in Gitmo and be stripped of American citizenship. Anything less shows a woefull lack of support for the troops.

Kinda how I felt anytime I pointed out that Clinton was a moral sleaze. I was told his private life was none of my business... even though this was the guy we'd entrusted with our national security and had more than one opportunity to apprehend Bin Laden before 3,000 of us were brutally slaughtered in our own country... but I digress.

Agreed, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't call them out and confront them when we find them... regardless of their affiliation.

 

 

Whether you think this war is right, wrong or somewhere in between we can't send our troops into harm's way and then shoot them in the back with our words.

 

I am convinced that terrorists would melt in the face of a truly unified United States. I honestly believe we caught them off guard with our sudden and overwhelming response following 9/11. There's no army in the world that can defeat us on the battlefield.

 

For our politicians to offer public encouragement to our enemies with the comments they have made is scandalous if not outright treasonous. I'm not suggesting that they shouldn't critically examine our stragegy and results, comment on it behind closed doors, and make the appropriate adjustments. That to me is what a true patriot would do, not for his own glory, but for the best of his country.

 

For politicians to make such defeatist public proclaimations with the intent of making in onto the evening news or tomorrow's headline is unconscionable. Too much is transmitted via the media to our enemies. It's this lack of unity and resolution that emboldens terrorists around the world.

You may have misunderstood my post. I was in no way attempting to justify his remarks with a "everyone does it" excuse. On the contrary, I was trying to warn everyone that it does indeed happen.

All I'm gonna say then, is that we are a WHOLE lot worse off as a country than even I imagined. We're at the point beyond political redemption, and changes are not just necessary, but critical.

 

I refuse to be governed by leaders who are so self-serving as to wish harm on people fighting a war for whatever purpose, in order to achieve political gain.

 

Let's bring back the Mafia.

How about not paying our legislators at annual income levels the IRS and apparently most democrat candidates for president define as "rich." Same for the ridiculous retirement packages for former legislators that rival those of corporate executives.

 

How about bringing back the concept of "service" to the definition of our public servants.

I disagree. More money in my pocket because of paying less taxes than when he took office.

 

A procedure that brutally aborted babies after being vetoed by the Democrat love child called Bill Clinton was passed and I believe upheld by the Supreme Court. Mainly because of the two appointees by GW.

 

The stock market has reached heights undreamt of before.

 

There has not been a terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11.

 

A horrible leader of a Middle Eastern country has been removed from power and the country may or may not see brighter days ahead.

 

The Taliban was removed from power in Afghanstan and women in that country are seeing rights they have never dreamed of.

 

Khadfi who seemed to be a rogue ME leader has curtailed his activities.

 

I am sure that there are some more positive things that others can help me out with.

 

AND THERE HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE NEGATIVE THINGS.

 

Too many Americans have lose their lives in Iraq and Afghanstan.

 

And as many babies are aborted everyday than soldiers who have been killed in Iraq the entire time we have been there.

 

The amount of spending beyond the war in Iraq is ridiculous and a source of embarrassment for the Republicans who claimed they were the fiscal responsibility party.
