August 20, 200719 yr If you play a really good flag team with fast d-linemen, the option won't work,,,, but you can play off of it like we used to do and really have success. The biggest mistakes team make is just taking the 7 on 7 passing tourney approach.... design plays that after the pass is thrown down field other receivers run complimenting routes so they become available to take pitches downfield. Also, we used to kill teams by placing fast runners on the o-line and rolling the quarterback away from all the receivers.... after runnign quick sweeps for 10 yards a pop and picking up key first downs, the dfeense would ultimately commit their lineman to both rush the QB,,, at this point on the rollout we would drag two linemen and drop it off over the DL to set up the option downfield. At Eastern, as I guess it is almost everywhere, nearly everyone went on a one count. Against teams with particularly fast/aggressive DL we would use this against them in 3rd and short yardage situations or anytime we wnated to slow their pass rush... after using a one count for an extended period we would go on a hard count and almost nearly every time draw a cheap offsides. It was nice having my buddy who played QB in Florida on the same team as former Maryland All-American D'Qwell Jackson, and played football for a year at Union College.
August 20, 200719 yr I played 16 years in the Ft Thomas and Surrounding N Ky area. I played QB in High School but it doesn't mean i was any good as a Flag Football QB.Our QB never played Football before. He played Division I Basketball. By reading some of everybody's post i find it amusing that everybody is saying that you have to have a rocket for an arm and lightning fast receivers. Not true at all. It all depends on what kind of Offense you run. Trust me, i played in the Orlando Nationals for 8 straight years finishing in the top 5 four of them. We are once again getting the band back together this year playing in Edgewood on Sat mornings. Finallly for fun!!!!!
August 20, 200719 yr In about our 3rd or 4th game, we had a new guy join the team. He had never played either, but insisted on being allowed to QB. We had to terminate that idea after he tried to go under center on me 3 times. WOW...
August 20, 200719 yr Back in my UK days, me, Bellalum and LogMountainBoy formed a pretty tough team. Bell did the QBing and we breezed to back-to-back titles in the UK Intramural league.
August 20, 200719 yr I played in the Cincinnati Rec league last year, we made a late run in the playoffs before losing in very muddy game in the Semi's. Can't wait to get it started back up again this year.

August 21, 200719 yr My team last year at UK went undefeated in the regular season, but ended up with a HORRIBLE draw for the playoffs and lost the first game. That team ended up making the finals before they lost....:madman: I know I will be playing for my frat team this year however since I joined one last spring, and I really look forward to that since we have big crowds for the games. It will be exciting!
