I got a Sky Caddie last night as an early birthday gift. I got the SG4, which is supposed to be the best one.

I've used them before and I love them!

Does anyone else have one?

I love mine! I have all the course from around here in Eastern Kentucky put in it and you can't beat it. I love just walking up to a shot and knowing how far I am to the green! Now the Courses you can download off the computer are great, they tell you how far each bunker, water, tree, everything is from you! There is only 1 or 2 courses on the website from Eastern Ky so I haven't gotten a membership yet and all the other courses I go to out of state pretty much all have GPS on the carts so I just use it for my courses around here.

Just talked to a buddy and he thinks Sky Caddies and other GPS products should be outlawed. What are your thoughts about this? I told him he was crazy.

I'm guessing he is a traditionalist and probably still uses a persimmon driver with a steal shaft. I see nothing wrong with it.The only time I have been at a course with GPS was Houston Oaks and I thought it was great.

I'm for anything that speeds the game along, besides no matter how you obtain your yardage, you still have to hit that distance......

GPS and distance measuring devices are legal for use now. Pretty much as long as they dont measure slope they are usually okay.

Everyday play, GPS and such are a no brainer to have. They definitely speed things up. I dont think they can hurt in tournament play either. It's like what was said above, no matter how you get it, you still have to hit it.

I used one in a tournament not too long ago and it was very helpful. SO much better than stepping off your distances.

Definitely speeds up the game. I'm pretty sure StoneCrest is loaded as one of the courses that you can down load. That will definitely help my kids that play the region there this year.

Not in actual matches or tournaments. I believe they are okay for practice rounds.

Sky Caddy will not be able to be in use for Post Season play in the state of kentucky! Region or state tourney

I do not think they should be used in any competition, if you're playing a round for fun or with your friends, it can only speed things up so I have no problem with them.

I've got an SG4 and love it (when it's working). I've had to send it back for repair. They say they can't give me an estimted time for return, that it could be a month or more. I've since done some research and found that their customer service and reliability are pretty bad.

 

I don't understand the comments regarding that they shouldn't be used in tournament play.
