For me I would think the winning SEC record, cuz that probably breaks more than one streak by accomplishing that task. Second would be likely the hardest, but to beat Flroida would be cool, or LSU, or Auburn, but motsly Florida.

So you're saying that if UK beats Louisville then they will get major recruits, but they wouldn't get them if they beat SEC powerhouse UT?

 

That's like saying if UK basketball loses to UL but runs through the SEC then they're still going to miss out on top recruits because they didn't sin their instate game. Please!

First of all you can't compare football and basketball, the two are WAY to different.

Secondly pld is right, you would do better in recruiting Louisville if you were to beat UofL than you currently do. Louisville has been producing great talent the last few years and it is almost exclusively going to UofL. If you beat Tennessee, it would be a great win, but it wouldn't do nearly as much in any specific area as beating UofL would do for you in your own state's hotbed.

IMO, it wouldn't make a difference. People who grow up in Louisville are most likely going to go to UofL regardless of how the UK/UofL game turns out, if they're looking to stay in state.

* UK has never beaten a team coached by Steve Spurrier

* UK has not beaten SEC East rival South Car. in the 2000's (last Wildcat win: 30-10 in 1999)

 

* UK has not gone to back-to-back bowls since '98 and '99

IMO, I think it doesn't matter. UK is recruiting better now because they are showing signs of getting better. I mean they haven't beat UL since 2002 and they've got some good recruits. Beating Louisville is a big win but has little effect on recruiting IMO. Beating UT and showing you can compete in the SEC gives you a shot at the SEC tournament which is the big picture.

UK is recruiting better overall, I think that is clear. But it is doing worse in the deepest recruiting area of the state over the last 6 years. I think RRR's point is correct, before Louisville was in the Big East, Kentucky could always say, "Hey we can compete for a National Championship, the best Louisville can hope for is the Liberty Bowl." That lead alot of kids from Louisville to UK. But now it seems that Louisville is the team with the most likely route to the BCS bowls and that makes the Louisville UK game important recruiting wise because if UK can't beat Louisville on the field then the best Louisville area talent will go to Louisville and UK will only get the Louisville guys that are mad because Louisville didn't offer them or grew up dyed in the wool Big Blue fans.

Even worst case scenario this gives them wisn against Vandy, Miss State, South Carolina, and one of the SEC east Powers or Arkansas. Thus ending the South Carolina streak, Spurrier Streak, and beating a ranked opponent.

 

I feel confident they would beat EKU and FAU, sealing up a bowl and ending that streak.

Exactly! Beating UT would be great for the fans, but no athlete will play harder for UK than a home-grown one. :thumb:

Not true at all. Want a really good example? Keenan Burton. Bush almost came here too. Shelton and the Haskins brothers are from Lexington.

 

It would make a huge difference. Just look at the state of Tennessee. UT can recruit the whole state and get the top athletes, while Vandy, Memphis, etc. get what's left.

It's steps. You have to make sure things are right at home before you can step outside of the house. It has huge implications on recruiting, because most of the time, their recruiting the same players.
