U.L. = Ragone, Redman and Brohm all were/are pretty good. (I am not sure which order that I would put them in)

 

I would definately have to put Lorenzen in front of Bonner. The coaches did and that was Bonner's reason for transferring.

How anyone could put Bonner (one year) and Boyd above Lorenzen is beyond me. Jared had a better college career, statistically, than Eli Manning and about 99.7% of the QB's to ever play in that conference. He is also entering his 3rd year getting an NFL pay-check. Shane Boyd won't sniff a roster in mid-September, IMHO. Bonner had a great year, and it may well have ended in a bowl victory had Whalen not snapped his arm / elbow, but IMHO he wasn't nearly as gifted as Jared at the QB spot (and certainly, for reasons outside of his control, didn't have a fraction of the career Jared had).

 

At UK, as of today, I'd go like this:

Woodson

Bonner

Boyd

 

I'm sure Woodson will end up above Jared, but after one good year, IMHO, he isn't there yet.

 

One good year and a bowl victory, which is huge considering it was at UK.

To be honest, I'd probably put Cantwell before Ragone, even though he's served primarily as a backup. We (UL) are probably the most fortunate team (other than WV) in the talent we have in our 1st and 2nd QB's.

I would say that I was mistaken in putting Boyd ahead of Lorenzen but I will stay with my opinion of Bonner being better than Lorenzen. Imo Bonner had his college carrer taken away from him by Hal "B"umme. Had Bonner been able to finish his college carrer it is hard to tell what kind of numbers he would have put up. I realize that Lorenzen has drawn a NFL paycheck for 3 years but I thought that we were talking about college. Lorenzen did have vey impressive numbers, Bonner went to Valdosta St. (I believe that it was) and set multiple records in that division I believe. This is jmo but I believe that it was all "political" at U.K. in pushing Bonner out in favor of Lorenzen. I am not trying to bash Lorenzen at all, I liked watching him but I just think that Bonner would had put up a far better carrer at U.K. had he not been screwed out of it.

I think Lorenzen replacing Bonner was more a decision of arm strength. Bonner was great in short to mid-range passing, but couldn't throw past 45yds.

At the worst, it's a push. Ragone was awesome, but I think Cantwell has the "finesse" that Ragone didn't have. Does that make sense? Both are tough as nails, though. Probably the two toughest, in terms of taking a beating and getting right back in there.

Yeah, your right. It's probably a toss-up. Cantwell also has the priviledge of being tudored by the Brohm's. :thumb:

Ahhhh....I don't really know...their careers have been very similar...too tough to call.

UL- Redmon, Ragone, Lefors, Brohm

 

Not all have done great in the pros by any means, although the jury is still out. But both teams have had a great group of QBs. I think it is fairly balanced and can see an argument from both sides.

 

Could not have said it better. Went to combine the year that Ragone was there and he is one of the largest people I have ever met. I mean that guy was massive. All of those are good QB's and I bleed red for the VILLE but don't count out UK in the SEC this year. They are turning into the sleeper team for a lot of analysts.
