More than likely he'd be the back-up, for the simple fact that Brohm is the hometown boy, and as you said has been hyped every since high school.

I think it would have been interesting to see what Cantwell would have done somewhere else.

Using that criteria Woodson would be a pre-season All-American (2nd team) and Brohm would still be the projected first pick in the draft if his offensive line didn't get him killed his first two years.

I agree that Brohm has definitely been hyped for years but as one who was there and got goose bumps the day he announced he would sign with UofL, I must say the man has delivered, in SPADES.

I hoped but never really believed, he could make the Cards a Top Ten team year in and year out and he has done it in spite of 3 serious injuries. The 2 to him and the one that many believed cost the Cards a NC, Michael Bush's.

 

Woodson had a excellent season last year, after a slow start and he may well be on Brohm's level and I hope he is, but as of now his resume still needs some work.

You are probably right. Woodson only has the lowest INT rate in SEC history, guided UK where nobody thought they would go (to a bowl game and WIN), throws 31 TD's against 7 INTs in the SEC. Yeah, he hasn't arrived yet.

 

Let's be honest, both are GREAT college QB's but UL had more talent. I hate to admit it, but they did. Take Brohm off the UL team and they are still an excellent team. Take Woodson of UK's team, and the only thing many of us UK fans are hyping is probably a new coach, because Lord knows that UK's defense couldn't stop anyone until the end of the year last season when they finally found their legs.

 

On the bright side, we have 2 of the best QB's in the country playing for INSTATE schools and to beat it all, they are INSTATE kids!!! How can we not cheer for them both to have phenomenal years and get a shot at the next level! They are both getting a lot of hype, ... with Brohm, he has always had the hype (and rightfully so, he is a tremendous QB and leader that ANY college team would love to have), but for Woodson, this has to be uncharted territory.

Very similiar to Couch & Redman. Kentucky has been putting out some QB's in recent years.

I didn't say Woodson hadn't arrived yet because I think he has, in SEC play his stats were good at 15tds and 5ints. He did however, struggle against most of the better teams the Cats played. Georgia and Clemson were the exceptions.

I think he will be much improved this year and could very well have the Cats contending for the SEC East title if it becomes a dogfight.

Woodson is light years better than he was in high school so any judgement on their comparative abilities in college based upon their high school career is meaningless. You might as well claim one is better than the other because they were better in kindergarten. It's ancient history.
