George Grande's temporary replacement

Featured Replies

George is dealing with his ailing mother. And this guy is actually pretty good. I think he has done Indians baseball for while. Anybody thats watching the game, what do you think?

I just posted on this on the track the Reds thread. This guy is not that but I do have to say look who we are comparing him to and who he is with (Crisssy), just about anyone would be good in comparison.

I listened to the 9th, and he did a fine job.

I like Welsh and Grande. They're not perfect but work well together.

I think they'd work much better, however, somewhere other than as the Reds announcing team. Maybe the Legends are looking to create a TV network?

I thought he was good. Knowledgeable, and showed proper enthusiasm when called for.

I agree. When you watch a crew as often as we watch this one, having some amiable folks in there is just as important as having someone who can break down every pitch and play.

So, to be clear, you've sacrificed competency for joviality.

Not true. No way you can label him as being incompetent. Jovial, yes.

Most people that do not like him dislike him for his style and not his substance.

I've watched commentators, from Garagiola, Kubek, Michaels, McCarver and so on, but I enjoy those who add to the game, not try to explain how the game is played, but describe the action.

Too often, we listen to criticize. I'll take the commentators, who don't critique every move, play or decision and bring a laugh, on occasion.

Growing up listening to Marty and Joe, on the radio....they could describe the game and make you feel, like you were present.

I dislike both because they are incompetent to the point of it being extremely annoying.

You'll need to give me some examples of how they are incompetent.

Both frequently botch calls and display a lack of understanding of the game.

Jim, I'm sure you can look at the above and admit its a bit vague.

They don't understand the game? Please.
