Gallatin will probably start 3 seniors and 2 juniors who have played togrther forever it seems like. I don't understand why it would take until after the New Year for them to "jell".:confused:

Gallatin will do just fine this year. I think they will have a cake walk to the all A. And I would look for them to make some noise in the region this year.

Simon Kenton has Lane back and a strong JV class coming up that was junior-laden last year. I look for Simon Kenton and Gallatin to both have good teams again.

It just seems that when a team loses as many quality players as GC did and then a new group comes in it takes a little time to adjust to the competition. Many go from support players to running the game and it sometimes is an adjustment. The goal is to be ready when the tournaments start and I am sure they will be.

Does anyone know anything about Henry County or South Oldham?

Walton has blown up this year they will not return one big guy on the inside. The way the team sets up right now they look like they may be running a five guard offense.

 

I think this team could do better than last year's. I agree the fact that they don't really have anybody to go down low is going to kill them, but if they can force an up tempo game and get out and run they could win some games. If they are hitting shots come tourny time I'd put money on them making it out of the district.

Thats the thing they are going to have to make shoots from the outside I belive it will be the bread and butter for this team this year.

The way the region looks, is that Oldham will repeat and Anderson will be the next to best team. Oldham will challenge for the regional title.

Don't count out SK. They will have one of the best shooting teams that SK has had in a long time. The likes of Layne, Ponzer, Slavey and Barnes from behind the arc and then will have 6'6" Brandon Maegley and 6'3" Josh Brown hitting the boards.

I do think this team will give alot of teams fits this year and if they are on they really could suprise some teams. For loosing so much seniors last year they still return a team that had alot of varisity playing time. Jones played varisity the last two years, Ponzer played in every game last year, and Kirk became a big contriputer towards the end of last year.

Scott HS showed how tough you can be with some guys who can make shots and play with a lot of effort. They listed Danny Miller at 6'3" but that was generous and he could have used a few more trips thru the buffet line. Scott did have Sharp who was an All-Region caliber player and I don't know if Walton has that type of player on the roster.

I do agree with you that Scott did show how effective a mostly guard offense can be, but one thing you addressed that Walton does not have and that is the talent that Scott did.

 

I look for Grant County and SK to come out of the district that Walton is in.

I haven't seen Walton enough to be sure but I don't think they have the big time player like Sharp or even Quigley for that matter. However you don't know who will make that big time jump and raise their game to the next level. I don't think there were a lot of Scott fans who were singing the praises of Ryne Smith last year at this time but by the end of the season he was their second best player behind Sharp.

 

I look for Ponzer to make a big time jump this year based on his summer with the Shining Stars.

Gallatin will have a rough start because they lost there 2 best player and a quality role player. I am sorry, but no team in this region I believe could lose Edmonson and Perkins and be better than they were the year before. Not to mention Davis was the strongest player that GC had. They will have there struggles, but they will be tough again. I dont know much about SO but HC lost 6 seniors and Joey Pollard re-tore his ACL this summer. He will be out for a while as well. They will be decent, but I would expect them an Owen to have a run for 2nd.

Based on your evaluation you must not have watched Gallatin much last year
