cshs81
Ichiro is supposedly going to re-sign with the Mariners for about $20M per year. A-Rod and the Yanks are going to begin talks about A-Rod's current contract. He has the option to opt out after this season. The Yanks want to get it done before the end of the season and have told Scott Boras that they will not enter the bidding with other teams after the season. Look for a $30M to $32M per year deal. Hello!!!!!!!! The Big Dork was complaining about paying 'just a lead off hitter' $20 Mil a year. Honestly, calling Ichiro 'just a lead off hitter' is an absolute insult and shows his baseball knowledge... For the record, paying anyone that much to play baseball is ridiculous... HOMELESS CAMEL
What I wouldn't give for an athelete to turn down obscene money for just around a million a year and in the press conference simply say that he isn't greedy, a million a year is more than enough to live the lifestyle he currently has and to set up himself and his family when he retires. Course I know I have a better chance of seeing Ruth and Mantle playing this weekend for the Yankees, but I'm just saying.
SvFan4life
In an ESPN article Boras said that A-Rod will get at least $30million a year BUT he will not negotiate before the season ends. So I don't think he'll be back in pinstripes.

HOMELESS CAMEL
A report came out today that the Yanks and AROD are renegotiating. I heard the same thing and considering the Yankees would get criticized by the fans for not trying to get A-Rod back, doesn't surprise me they want to try and get something done before the end of the year. Same fans that boo him, would miss that offensive production in the lineup. Granted he may not do anything in the post-season, but aside from Jeter, I don't think ANYONE in that lineup has produced in the post-season the last couple years. SvFan4life
A report came out today that the Yanks and AROD are renegotiating. Link? Reason I'm asking is because I know last night the Yanks said they would break tradition in order to negotiate with A-Rod during the season but in an article posted this morning Scott Boras said he will no renogtiate before seasons end. However, Boras said he will not take up the Yankees' offer to negotiate before the season ends. "We are not going to be negotiating during the season," Boras said. Boras insisted he could see no way that strategy will change, saying "This is Alex's decision. This has been his policy, and I fully expect this to continue to be his policy." SvFan4life
A-rod will not be a Yankee next year, IMO.
SvFan4life
Informed of the Yankees’ changed position last night, Boras said in a telephone interview that he wasn’t prepared to alter his stance. He also said he had no indication of any change in the Yankees’ thinking. “I spoke to Cash last week, and I have no knowledge of any indication of that sort,” he said. If the Yankees called and said they were prepared to discuss an extension, would he do it? “It’s been Alex’s policy to just focus on the season,” Boras said. “Unless I’m directed any differently by him, that would be the approach I would take.” Boras said he spent time with Rodriguez at the All-Star Game, and they talked only about Rodriguez’s season. That right there is saying that even Arod wants to focus on the rest of the season. In the ESPN article it said that Arod doesn't want to negotiate in season anyway. And this article also states at this present time that even if the Yanks want to renegotiate in season that Arod has still said no and until he changes his mind it'll stay that way. saint4
I'm going out on a limb here and saying that A-Rod will be in a Cincy uniform next year Right after I hit the lottery and buy the Reds organization He could buy the Reds now if he wanted to. If Ichiro gets 20 million per year, that will ruin the game. Talk about gas prices being high, the ticket prices will be ridiculous just to pay these greedy players. Soon, Ryan Howard, Adam Dunn, Andruw Jones, Jose Reyes, David Wright, Miguel Cabrara, and Prince Fielder will all look at Ichiro's contract and say "If he is good enough to get 20 million, then I am too." And all these teams will not pay them the money and there will be another strike for money. I hope not, but Ichiro and ARod get their money, baseball will go downhill. AverageJoesGym
The Yankees are only willing to "break tradition" and renegotiate during the season because if A-Rod opts out of his contract then the Rangers no longer have to pay part of his contract even if he resigns with the Yankees. If they get the deal done during the season the Rangers are on the hook for about 8 Million per year for the remainder of his original contract. That would make it a lot easier to afford a 30 million a year contract.
