Les Miles calls out USC

This is somewhat old news but I'd like to see something other than basketball recruiting in the middle of July.

LSU coach Les Miles says about USC

“I can tell you this, that they have a much easier road to travel,” Miles said. “They’re going to play real knockdown drag-outs with UCLA and Washington, Cal-Berkeley, Stanford — some real juggernauts — and they’re going to end up, it would be my guess, in some position so if they win a game or two, that they’ll end up in the title [game].

“I would like that path for us. I think the SEC provides much stiffer competition.”

Any thoughts?

He may be correct, in theory, but looks small, IMHO, voicing it like this. USC has played some nice non-conference competition the last few years so they haven't been shying away from good teams.

Weak.....in my opinion. I've said since Day 1 that I think Les Miles is in over his head at LSU and this comment reads like someone feeling just that way.

I agree. Most everyone knows that the SEC is consistently the toughest conference schedule...but there isn't a big enough difference between LSU and USC to dispute anyone's road to the title game, IMO. If either team makes it that far, they will have been tested more than once.

As for Les Miles, I never understood that hire. I couldn't believe I heard that they didn't really pursue Bobby Petrino and then hired Les Miles. I have no doubt about who's the better of those two.

I don't want to be accused of saying LSU has an easy road, but their schedule playsout about as well as they could hope for.

@Miss St

Vir Tech

Mid Tenn

South Carolina

@Tulane

Florida

@Kentucky

Auburn

@Alabama

Lou Tech

@Mississippi

Arkansas

The toughest games, Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, Vir Tech, and South Carolina are at home the easier games are all on the road.

I agree and I was thinking the same thing. Not an easy schedule by any means, especially when you throw VaTech in there. But, I don't think Arkansas will be as good as last year, nor Florida. Auburn, who knows and South Carolina may or may not be poised to break through. It's hard to tell how difficult this schedule truly is. To me, it's not good enough to be ridiculing SC's schedule.

I don't care if they are playing the AFC Central, it is still unprofessional and bush league to do so.

Well, I'm not disagreeing with you, or condoning it. I'm just saying, if you are going to do it, you ought to at least be playing a murderer's row schedule with the other team playing a whole schedule typical of an SEC out-of-conference...:sssh: :D

He needs to do some serious research...in EACH of the last 4-5 seasons, USC's SOS has been better than LSU...in most of the respected outlets...

Yeah, I didn't want to start looking back, but I know the Trojan's SOS has been pretty good the past few years...

...the SEC needs to quit complaining about their conference schedule and crying about how tough it is. We all know it's the toughest most years, but I don't think that sets a good tone for your team. What are they supposed to think when the coach is talking about how it's next to impossible to finish undefeated in the conference. LSU is, and has been, as talented as any team in the country and they just can't/don't get it done. Period. The talent they've had could easily rival USC, IMO...the difference is the coaching. Pete Carroll and his staff are better than Miles and company.

Quit crying and take care of business...if you go undefeated and get left out in the cold like Auburn, then you have something to talk about.
