Some teenagers grow into young adults. And some young adults make the same kinds of mistakes that you'd forgive in a teenager. I'm not excusing what he did. He needs help, not ridicule.

I guess I'm one of the few who made some stupid mistakes in my life and haven't forgotten that just because you turn 18 (or 21), it doesn't mean you can't still be lost and needing help.

Like I said in Post #6, he is screaming for attention and help....but with that said, it's hard to say "a few mistakes or he's lost", if this timeline is accurate.....

 

- In August 2000, he was ticketed for reckless driving by North Carolina police for driving 94 mph.

- In September 2002, military police arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving near a military base in Virginia.

- In 2003, he was charged with marijuana possession in Maryland after police stopped the car he was driving for not having its headlights on.

- In February 2004, he entered a substance abuse program as part of a plea agreement.

 

That's nearly 11-12 years of verifiable problems and he's, what only 24. Mistakes happen but when it's common place, time to say enough, to young Mr. Gore.

Why pin the blame on the parents? Pin it on AGIII where it belongs.

I can no more blame my parents (or anyone else) for my problems than my sons can blame me for theirs. I have kids who have done great in life and others that I seriously worry about. They were all raised the same way, but none of them are wired the same. Plus, they all have decisions to make in their lives and have to live with those decisions. There are numerous parents out there that you can place a great part of the blame on for how their children grew up. I don't think that Al Gore is one of those. And like me, I'd bet he still loves his son, even when he screws up big time.

Please be mindful of rule #9 ...discussion of criminal behavior by juveniles (anyone under 18) is never permitted anywhere on BGP. That includes anything that Al III did before he turned 18.
