oldrambler
I loved the comment in there about Johnny Majors laughing all the way into January! That would serve Phat Phulmer right since he undermined Johnny majors for the U.T. job years ago. Imo Fulmer is one of the most overrated coach in the country, with talent that he has had and the results...............he should have won far more than one NC, JMO. He has a good recored but Oh My, look at what talent he has brought in to Knoxville.

BucksFan
I concur oldrambler. TN definitely has the talent. Fulmer has done a good job in getting the talent in, but they have probably underachieved a bit.
Ram
I think you all are being to critical of a great coach. Coach Fulmer has had much success at Tennessee. Not to many programs can claim many records that UT has for winning seasons, bowl appearances (tied for second), and bowl victories (tied for forth), many of these coming while Coach Fulmer was guiding the ship. On a personal note, I have met, and spoke with, Coach Fulmer and found him to be a very polite and accommodating person to the fans of UT. There are currently 42 Vols, that Fulmer coached, in the NFL and 3 in the CFL. 1993 10-2-0 1994 8-4-0 1995 11-1-0 1996 10-2 1997 11-2 1998 13-0 1999 9-3 2000 8-4 2001 11-2 2002 8-5 2003 10-3 2004 10-3 2005 5-6 2006 9-

Ram
Which further reinforces the point of: How the heck do you lose 21 games the last 5 years with that kind of talent???????? In that 5 year span they had two 10-3 seasons, and their first losing season in I don't know how many years. And that is playing in the SEC, it is very difficult to go undefeated in the SEC. Really, saying that a team is not doing well averaging only 4 loses a year for 5 years is not a bad thing IMO. Especially, playing the schedule that UT plays. I am sure Coach Fulmer wants to win every game, but playing in the SEC, it's not going to happen very often.

Players sent to the NFL and CFL are good and one thing but to me that shows what kind of talent that he brought into Knoxville and greatly underacieved with it. Now that Cutcliffe is back to wearing that disgusting color of orange:D imo U.T. will return to having some very good teams.

Do you think that it was a coincidence that UT had it first loosing season in 100 years the year that Cutcliffe was gone, I don't. I like Fulmer and I believe him to be a good coach, but his coaching staff is very impressive. His QB coach holds many records in the CFL (because when he graduated from UT there were not any black QB's in the NFL) and look at the UT QB's under his coaching. Trooper Taylor is the heart beat of the UT staff, the players will play there butt off for him. And Cutcliffe is, at least, one of the best OC in college football. bird dad 56
ram i have to disagree with you, every dog has his day and tennessee that year had bad year that happens every 1 out of a zillion for tenn, it doesn't matter which coach left if the players don't meet expectations, especially in the sec, you will have a LOSING season
RockPride
Darren McFadden won’t win the Heisman because he’ll get hurt. (Louisville’s Brian Brohm will take the trophy.) Stripped of his best player and fan support, Houston Nutt will step down before Thanksgiving. He’ll announce his resignation via text message. I hope that Brohm can stay injury free but he is saying McFadden will not win the heisman bc he is injury prone?? Brohm has proven injury prone himself. Again, I am certainly not wishing injury to either or anyone else for that matter.
All Tell
If Fulmer has been such a disaster at Tennessee then how is it that the mighty Wildcats have never beaten him? It will never cease to amaze me how UK football fans can run down another program or coach wile building their own abysmal football program up so much. It will never cease to amaze me how UK football fans can run down another program or coach wile building their own abysmal football program up so much. I don't think anyone said that Fulmer's tenure at Tennessee has been a disaster. Besides, I was the one that said that he has underachieved for the past 5 seasons--if you go back and check my posts I've never denigrated what UL has accomplished. I think you'll get few SEC/UT fans to argue that 21 losses over the past 5 seasons given UT's tradition and resources is underachieving, especially considering they only had 20 total losses over the first 9 seasons of his tenure. Do you feel as though UT performance has been up to their standards over the past 5 seasons or were you just using this thread as another chance to take a swipe at UK fans?
